Time Of Issue: 10.30 Saturday 07th August 2004.

A deep depression is expected to establish itself to the west of Ireland over the next few days, bringing periods of heavy rain to many areas.

The rain, along with strong winds in the west, is expected to reach western areas early on Sunday before slowly moving eastwards during Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. As the rain moves eastwards, there is the potential for some severe thunderstorms to break out, giving some torrential rainfall and localised flooding, along with hazardous driving conditions.

The rain could well persist in Northeast England and Eastern Scotland during Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing some large rainfall totals.

Ranfall amounts could exceed 60mm in the next few days in some parts of the country.
