Far to mild for snow

Yes at the moment it is but thats because we have mild air :friends: Cold air doesn't engage until after mid night and then we rely on evaporative cooling to drag us down last couple of centigrade.

Temperature is falling but looks like intense ppn is in south Wales with gap over west country so probably not going to happen. 3.9c

Morning all, blowing a gale here with heavy sleet. Oh to be another 100 metres higher! I should imagine places like Hawkesbury Upton, just up the road, are seeing heavy snow.

I'm in bath and heavy sleet but  it changes to all snow very often and with this wind it's all most blizzard conditions.

The front was through here in the early hours (It was to the west at 00z giving a rather damp 00z Camborne sounding!!). So now cloudy but the moderate rain has ceased but very windy. Temp 6C and wind NNW 35mph gusting 60.

Turned light and sleety again now melting slushy covering that was forming. Ppn seems too patchy to maintain snow. Still nice to see.

I'm not going out for a walk in that this morning, so for the first time in ages, the weather has beaten me. It's disgusting out there.

Driving, horizontal, cold rain. A bonus extra cup of tea while I watch it from bed, I reckon.

The low seems to be some 5 mb deeper than most model projections at this time. Wind gusts hitting near 70 mph in the far SW (e.g. Culdrose), 60 mph as far east as the Isle of Portland.

Incomprehensible amounts of rain here last night. For about half an hour a squall line aligned perfectly to just train right overhead and deliver very heavy rain throughout that period. Either side it's been mostly moderate to heavy rain and now the slow down is happening just as the cold front arrives - much as the models predicted.

The sleet/snow reports are coming in from roughly the areas that the likes of HIRLAM and WRF-NMM predicted for 7am. These models take the snow zone as far east as the Solent by 10/11 am before it warms out.

A wild morning to say the least. The ground is starting to become a lake again, having soaked up a lot of the water thanks to the recent run of relatively dry conditions (only about 14 mm in the last two weeks, with 9 dry days and some very dry air at times).

Rain here (never thought it wouldn't be), temp dropped to 4.2C but now back to 5.4C. Very windy though as I thought, we seem to be more exposed to NW-N winds than SW and W winds, probably thanks to the N-S valley.

Had a gust of 49mph on my station which is just about the highest since February 2014.

16.0mm since midnight and 7.4mm before midnight according to the Davis (not ventured out to check the manual gauge yet)
