Just in time to save 6 snow patches in the Highlands. Three on Ben Nevis in Observatory Gully, two in Garbh Coire, Braeriach, assuming Pinnacles is still there and one big one on Aonach Beag.

There's a fair bit of snow at the top of the Lecht ski runs this morning...

That's is a terrific picture, plenty more snow to come before winter proper as well by the look of things.

Depending on conditions I'd suggest either Glenshee or Cairngorm. Cairngorm is close to Aviemore where you won't be short of pubs, restaurants etc. Braemar, north of Glenshee, has a couple of spots you can grab food and drink. Best advice is to avoid the Scottish ski centres at weekends. The queues can be ridiculous.

We need some sustained cool temps right for a few weeks to allow a base to build and then fingers crossed, at Xmas / New year I will be carving the S**t out of that lovely white stuff!  :drunk-emoji:

Lower Goose

I'm sure I've skied the Goose when there's less snow on it than that.

For the first time for a number of years I'm fairly confident of the chances of getting for a pre-xmas ski. I could have been at Lecht last weekend but didn't think the conditions were good enough for anything other than to say "I've skied in November in Scotland", and tempting as it was it wasn't enough (we also had dinner guests coming Saturday night).

Cold conditions continue for NE Scotland. Glenshee temps below, well bellow zero, for the next  few days with snow in the forecast Sunday onwards. More snow please!

Tempting isn't it - an invitation to rise above the inversion fog down below and enjoy crisp sunshine and wonderful views. Glencoe mountain are running the Access Chairlift today. £10 gets you to the top! :)

Stunning 'long exposure' photo of Glencoe at dawn today!

Glencoe Nov 24 Glencoe dawn.jpg

Meanwhile, in the Cairngorms they've announced they will be open for snowsports tomorrow!
"We intend to offer top to bottom riding using the Funicular Railway."

Cameron McNeish walking in the Cairngorms today. Looking great up there!

It resembles an interpretation of data packets whizzing along fibre BB
I can't see most of that melting until May now.

A lot of the glen floor and Rannoch Moor are only at 250-400m, it can easily be quite bare in the winter months.

Absolutely stunning photo though.

For those lucky enough to be heading to Cairngorm tomorrow be advised the operators plan to limit passes to just 250. In addition no surface lifts will be in operation and the planned route is not suitable for beginners. Have fun!

Mild weather has forced the lecht to cancel snow sports today and presumably until further notice. Cairngorm has opened but the conditions don't sound promising. A day of survival skiing/snowboarding me thinks.

The ski resorts have certainly had it bad over the past few winters first, it was too mild for snow

Now it's turned colder we have a blocking high over the UK keeping all the precipitation away

They've actually had a some good winters up there despite being mild and wet in England.

'Walkhighlands' today put out some terrific photos of Loch Affric in the NW Highlands - taken this morning and showing a hard frost and inversion fog over the Loch.
