Nevis Range (back corries) also has a covering on the higher tops today.

Quite a late start this year it seems on the snowfall front for the scottish summits. Often October delivers the first snow cover, but this year it was plagued my mild southerlies.

Last November delivered alot of snow to the Lake District fells. Indeed overnight 4/5 Nov brought quite a bit of snow down to modest levels, this thawed. 18/19 Nov brought snow down to valley level, and there was a good 10 days of snow cover on the higher ground thereafter - the longest run of the season..

Could be some snow on the very highest ground in any showers tonight, but it will be fleeting. Next week could deliver some snow showers as well, but transitory. Not usually until the second half of the month when we can expect the first snow cover of the season down to about 400 metres to last at least 24 hours.

A nice covering on the tops this morning.

Just looking at the next weeks weather at Glencoe and things are looking quite rosy considering it's only early November.  A freeze/thaw cycle is underway with several spells of snow, with more likely the following week.

Impressive wind chill on Saturday and Sunday too.

Live weather data is being recorded again at the top of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest peak, after a 113-year gap.

Researchers have installed an automatic meteorological station that digitally collects information on temperatures, wind speeds and rainfall levels

I saw that earlier today, what's quite odd and a bit of a shame is that it's only there for a few weeks before being taken away again!

Could be a very decent build of snow cover on the scottish tops over the coming days, with freeze-thaw action taking place. Much like last November.

And given todays models, plenty more to come in the next 7-10 days. The Highlands is the place to be!

What can you say about Iain Cameron? The guy's amazing! He can't keep off the mountains and he takes amazing photos!! Another stunner from yesterday:

And this fabulous photo from Dr. Rob Lennox of Glen Lyon yesterday:

Nice to read that the snow that's fallen on the Scottish mountains over the last couple of weeks might well last through the season now!
And hopefully there's plenty more to come over the next 4 or 5 months that will fill every crag and corrie to the brim!!

Stunning image from a couple of days ago of Rannoch Moor.  Nowhere else you'd want to be at this time of year!

Well, according to EXACTA WEATHERS recent Facebook post, we're weeks away from widespread snow?

Better stock up on canned food. It's the end of the WORLD.

Probably on hired skis!! I got over enthusiastic one early season in the Alps and ended up with deep gouges in my skis from the rocks and stones just below the surface!

The back corries on Nevis Range are looking good today with some big dumpings to come over the coming weeks ☺

Looking great for Cairngorm Ski Resort, over the next 5 days it's constantly below freezing with several spells of snowfall as well as a significant wind chill.  Lucky buggers!

Lovely snowy pics this morning (Thur 23 Nov) from Loch Morlich looking towards the Cairngorm and up on the mountain from the balcony of the Scottish Ski Club Hut:

I think this is the first time I've seen this view - the main building and chairlifts at the bottom of the Glenshee ski area. Looks good!

Edit: I've just seen the official temps on the Scottish mountains today:

Latest temperature observations on the summits: Cairngorm -5.6C; Cairnwell -4.0C; Bealach na Ba -2.7C.
