Lol that's even worse...snowed then melted at 12am above by lamppost watcher....I'm on the wine so sorry but have to laugh:D

I agree, how the hell can landed snow melt at night, unless it got rained on?

Must be very wet snow.

Drizzle again here.

Had something like this happen after that infamous late November Easterly a few years back, slider from NW that just warmed everything up and it rained.

Surely things will get more interesting later tonight though?:cc_confused:

All I ask for is to see it falling.

These last few winters have really been abysmal I'm not factoring in this one yet. :)

A dry gap has opened up over London, it does seem to be getting tugged at but radar imagery is interesting enough to keep me up a little longer, past midnight is when I expected it to turn more favourable.

Few patches of snow dust on the roads on the way home but just wet & miserable all the way back between Norwich & N Norfolk, it's cold but just damp & was starting to get misty too. Don't think we'll see any significant  snow tonight, off to bed as fed up with shining a torch out the window (no streetlights here)

Hope some of you get something enjoyable, can't remember the last time I got to sit and watch snowfall as it settled. There's something really magical about watching it settle & turn the world white. My favourite memory was crunching thru the snow to the pub when I was 18 then sitting with a pint watching a load more fall,  sigh.

Fingers crossed we get another chance sunday/Monday

I was about to throw the towel in but the 00:15 and 00:30 radar returns on Raintoday have piqued my interest.  The band is slowly intensifying over Cambs, this could have a little sting in the tail for us after all.  I'm giving it another 15 minutes!

The forecast was that the snow was meant to be arriving in the small hours, so not at all surprised... We have just had a warm (er) sector pass over our region, so if the ppn holds, it should start to turn colder by the minute.

Went on a 10-15 min drive to New ash green a couple.hours ago- amazing what 120metres height difference can do! barely a spot of rain in gravesend, sleet near A2 light- moderate snow.up in New Ash Green and settling nicely. Took some pics but unfortunately wouldnt let me upload them. Fingers crossed for everyone

It does seem to be pepping up a bit to the NNW, it isn't over yet...

(Famous last words eh?) :D

You need dark blues on the radar to actually get snow. Can't recall the reason right now as I'm a bit tired but there is a reason!

Long time lamppost watching between TV and forum updates/radar watching.  Wasn't expecting the precipitation to get this far east but holding out hope for at least some snow falling soon given the radar. Shows how now casting is what it's about in the UK for snow as ever...

Lol is my answer to that

Well it does appear to be breaking up a tad the heavier pulses to Milton Keynes may come this way.

What happened to @Surrey tonight

been keeping the thread going all day

I heard they have 6ft snow drifts out his way and powercuts due to weight of snow bringing down the lines, so I'm guessing he can't get online? :pardon:

I don't know about @Surrey  but maybe he decamped to Kent or Sussex because Surrey the county's been a complete bust, all the more galling because the warnings south of London were for here and not where the snow has gone,.....

We've had just sufficient of the wet stuff to colour the back lawn and the tops of cars white, still light snow falling. Still above freezing.
