Bank la ARPEGE!!!!! C'est fantastique

adds some meat to the bones considering it is a high res model

A lot of us would be happy aside from EA however I do not see it ending up like below

This mornings Euro 4 output, still a lot of uncertainty about this front.

A clear and frosty start up here.

Ill believe it when I see it

Anything for us in the pipeline?

Western parts of the region could see a little sprinkle overnight I'd say. Very marginal though. Here's hoping we get a little bit in Surrey!

Every high res I've viewed and the GFS shows snow. The only one coming up with a mix is the EURO4, we need the ppn to arrive as a late as poss so we have colder temps. But I think we should be okay

"Outbreaks of sleet and snow will spread from the northwest on Saturday, initially into western Scotland, and then into parts of northwest England later in the day before reaching the Midlands and southern England during the evening and night. 1-3 cm snowfall is likely at low levels with 5-10 cm possible above 200 metres across western Scotland and Cumbria. Ice may prove an additional hazard in places. Please be aware of the potential for some travel disruption and difficult driving conditions.

A frontal zone moving eastwards into Britain on Saturday will run into and stall against the cold airmass which became established over the UK earlier in the week. This allows rain at the leading edge of this frontal zone to turn to snow and persist for several hours before the frontal zone weakens during Sunday, allowing less cold conditions to start developing and some of the snow to start melting. This snow is expected to fall along a relatively narrow corridor, perhaps only 100 miles wide, which means that some areas within the warning area may escape much of the snow. Meanwhile, where snow is limited or rain occurs instead, icy stretches may develop on untreated roads as rain and snow starts."

West of London then is it?

So for me its too far East, too far East, too far West, too far West, miss, miss, miss, miss.....

Waist of time, I gotta find myself a new Winter hobby! :wallbash:

Taking the accumulated charts from now till Sunday to compare.. In general terms 1mm of PPN is 1cm of snow. (various factors do vary this general rule of thumb though)

NNM High res..

Probs the best of them all really...

nmm_uk1-25-36-0.png?16-06

ARPEGE Keen on the idea but not as much PPN more in line with the met..

arpegeuk-25-36-0.png?16-06

GFS same as ARPEGE perhaps a touch more

Modele GFS - Carte prévisions

EURO4

More for North East London

Precipitation accum. EURO4 Su 17.01.2016 12 GMT

If it snows and guesses this is how I see it based on the above as an average..

It really is looking good for a cover of snow for the area that Surrey has marked-up above. Everything slotting into place nicely - the ppn moves in late in the night, so ground temps have had a chance to fall away and the dewpoint is between 0C and -1C. Are you lot really going to meet on Boxhill in the middle of the night? I'll bring a few pairs of skis down and we can try skiing by torchlight!! :D

I think them Met Office warnings will change again by lunchtime, seem to be moving more East the snow zone compared to Yesterday.

So if not in the Warning zone at the moment...have faith ;)
