We had about a centimetre at Watford, still cloudy, mostly alto stratus - snow slowly thawing.

Call me sad, but I've just thoroughly enjoyed reading through pages and pages of posts since yesterday evening. It was like reading a good thriller with plenty of twists and turns as the plot unfolded! Brilliant!! Nice to read that many enjoyed snow in the end. So after the first course appetiser, let's look forward to the main course as we move towards Feb with the hope next time brings a memorable snow event for everyone. :)

Oh, and today, it's a beautiful sunny morning with an overnight low of 0C. Looks like a very pleasant few days coming up.

I would like to say thanks to everyone for a great night last night, even if it came to nothing for me!

It was good fun and for a newbie I was made to feel really welcome!

Heres to a few more will it/won't it nights!

Xx

Well said Paget, I second that! You will all be seeing a lot more of me in the future, that's for sure! ☺

Bone dry here in Southend. Not a flake, no frost and not that cold at all really. Very poor, but its what I expected. Glad to see some of you got a dusting. About 3 years since we have seen a flake here!

Just drizzle here now :wallbash:

Do we expect the precip type to maintain this boundary or is there any chance those of us to the west might actually see some damn snow?

Here's how I like to rate snow events....

Big Flakes = 50p size, Medium = 20p, Small 5p, Tiny  = Rice grain.

Then overall out of 10

So during the night 5p and Rice Grain, overall 1/10

Did actually get a fair covering of a couple of centimetres in Guildford for a while from better conditions 6am to 8am. Covered the garden, pavements and everything but not roads. Not much left now though, just a few patches on grass and cars. One more like that and we'll at least have equalled last year!

It's also my last year down here as I'm moving up to the Pennines (not that the prospect of snowier winters appealed, it was the job really, honest...)

Bit of snow this morning but nothing of any consequence - light scatting on the shed roof and a few falling flakes. All disappeared quickly enough. The MetO hourly breakdown went a bit bonkers in claiming a mix of heavy and light snow between 0400 and 1100 here. Nice to see so many people in our region got lucky, though! Back to the MOD thread in hope of a second bite at the cherry.

I am very disappointed here on the south coast, we have had nothing but cold rain! Still got feb and March, but starting to doubt the chances of getting any decent snow this winter here! Really need a proper easterly blast here if we are to see snow before the winter is out!
