SLEET! Incredibly sparse but sleet nonetheless! :yahoo:

@paget get your best flannelette on and go peer at the lamppost!

It's just started sleeting (at best) here and I've just watched John Terry score an offside equaliser in the last minute of injury time on MOTD.

Things can only improve from here.

Hi Jenny, good to hear from an ex Southender! Glad you have some snow. Nothing but bright lights and boy racers here on the front!

@nicksussex.

People need to remember any accumulate of any sort has always been post midnight.

Any heavier falls will soon transpire wet/slush..the begin accumulation

I'm starting to wish we had a nicer lamppost to watch, one of those nice old fashioned ones!

I put a lamp facing out of the window, works a treat, just need it to snow now!

We now have decent size flakes falling, it's steady but not settling as yet.

St Neots, Cambs.

Just popped out for a smoke and saw my first flakes coming down. Treated to 3 lamposts round here and a little garden lamp so lovely view. Not too heavy but steady for a good 10 minutes..Its not settled but it was definitely trying to.. That's it I am easy pleased :D:D and any more will be a massive bonus

Dont panic people let it come to us

next 4 hours it will happen - however elevation is the key

For example across welling high street rain & sleet - top of shooters hill snow - ( right at top ) which is about 80m

so I think once that PPn hits then everyone will see some snow but only higher parts - like you halstead for a perfect example - maybe 5cm.....

Remember we're supposed to have no precip until 2300 and then only brief sleet followed by 'heavy rain'...sleeting early may bode well :D

I could see nothing on the lamp so ventured further where I did indeed feel sleety droplets!

I've still not lost hope! It feels very chilly!

Snow now turned to moderate sleet. Trees dripping like crazy.

Clearly my elevation has no benefit

Elevation is not a good sign, the Fens are flatter than a witches tit

Still dry here.
