Those showers already feeling sorry for themselves as they move across the SW midlands.

Just drove past the gritters here in Whitstable . It's been a bright sunny but cold day . Fingers crossed for a dumping of the white stuff ( I'd also be happy with a fine scattering )

What we really need is a big fat lake just South of Brum, bit of the good old lake snow effect would go down a treat for us lot down here!:D

From the met..

This Evening and Tonight:

Cold with the odd sleet or snow shower possible this evening and overnight but mainly dry with prolonged clear spells. A widespread frost forming, locally sharp in some rural areas, along with a risk of icy patches on untreated surfaces. Minimum Temperature -3°C.

Saturday:

A bright and frosty start. Sunny for most through the day, despite light winds it will still feel cold. The odd wintry shower is possible at times over Kent. Maximum Temperature 6°C.

If the ARPEGE comes off and delivers 10-15cm of snow over our Region Mon into Tues, I will dive naked into the Thames off Southend Pier

Just watched BBC London weather with John Hammond - apart from the slightest risk of a sleet shower over the west of our patch tonight and wintry showers to the very very east towards Suffolk tomorrow and Sunday  it's going to be dry and cold.

Monday he zoomed out to the national map and showed the front stalling out west in Wales and West Midlands.

Tuesday was light rain possible and turning milder!!

So onto the next cold spell it is.. If there is going to be one.

Ignore it.. For now.. Plenty of suprises for all coming up this weekend (I hope according to high res models)

Keep the faith, expect the unexpected

over on the mod thread they seem to be getting excited over a certain model (arpege ?) as it is showing snow for the southeast monday and tuesday,  that is why I was surprised at the forecast on southeast and wondered if it was correct because I thought they had access to better models then us

Meto wouldn't forecast snow that far in advance, especially a marginal event like early next week. Best to check the forecast on Sunday as things can and will change.

Arpege is the French meteo model, fairly high resolution similar to ECMWF. To forecast snow 4 days away is light years away and very tricky to forecast.
