75 years ago: an iconic image

75 years ago tonight, whilst German bombers dropped incendiaries and bombs on the City of London causing terrible damage and loss of life, the City of London ablazed. One of London's most famous landmarks stands proud amongst the burning ruins, a symbol of determination and defiance whilst everything else succumbs.

let's not forget just how brutal that obscene war was. For all sides.

 

This could been any  European city post WWII. It is in fact a picture of Hamburg taken by my father as they drove through the city just after VE Day

Terrible times. Thank goodness the USA and Russians came to our rescue.

  • Spring warmth and sunshine this weekend but we've got to stay at home
