Well hats off to the ECM as this afternoons small low was well modelled yesterday highlighting the risk of severe gales wrapped around a small but potent circulation , and also the APERGE model which is actually run in collaboration with ECMWF...  Gusts over a small area have reached 60-70mph over the east of N Ireland, SW Scotland & far NW England and earlier this morning a few stations in S/SW Ireland recorded gusts of 70-83mph before it quickly moved NE'wards. 

The GFS finally caught up with it on this afternoons 12z!

Just a normal winter storm, no where near as bad as others

I think it went as expected, for a storm where the core stayed well out to sea, and then north to Iceland

With the secondary low moving in, to give brief squally conditions

Just more wet & windy weather for most of us.

The people feeling let down (you didn't get blown away by Frank) are probably the ones believing the Daily

Personally I'm glad this storm fizzled out!

The last two storms up here on the hills in North Northumberland have taken tiles off my roof....

And I'm getting too old to be roof climbing, to replace them.

My neighbour's are no longer able to get flood insurance, once in a century events now seem to happen every few weeks.

And the weather people are now describing us entering our "Windy Season".

I think the media is preparing us bit by bit for the weather extremes each year to become the norn.

Also Newry Town centre in Northern Ireland, which just missed out on a major situation.  

This was just before high tide.  Sandbags were being placed around the river

Looks like The Pit and I Wrote off Sheffield too soon in terms of rain as it has been pouring it down here for most of this evening

The storm had the biggest impacts of any of the six so far here! And it wasn't forecast to do so. Just goes to show how difficult it is to forecast storms

Eye watching it pile up 13.8mm so far looking like it will continue for a while yet.

None of the storms have had an impact on London & SE all predominately being northern/western affairs with the jet stream going S this may change.

The focus draws to Southern England the SW in particular.

Mainly from the wind. A couple of fence panels have gone and some roofing felt  has gone from my shed. Small branches are down. It seems fairly local. Eight miles down the road there's no sign of a storm at all.

I'm 40 miles west of London and we've had a noisy day. Yet my family in London tell me it's 'just been a bit windy'!

Very heavy rain down here and strong winds , had to prop up fence with large paving slab Going up A34 earlier did not expect such bad weather. Did the 'core' go further south then expected ?

Been pouring it here since 5pm won't do well for the already flooded areas in and around Leeds certainly won't be a good day for the rivers tomorrow sadly on new years eve
