Rain at times in the early hours but dry by dawn with just enough cloud breaks to the SE to give an orange sunrise for a few minutes, overcast and dry at the moment; the low again in double figures at 12.3C, just ELEVEN C above the average!

Heavy rain yesterday eased late on to see the Calder level falling by 11pm but more overnight rain has sent the level sky high eclipsing that of 2012 with floodwater closing many roads and bridges Mytholmroyd, hebden bridge and sowerby bridge are under waterincluding my unit at Luddendenfoot.

Cloudy, dry, windy and still outrageously mild.  Maximum 15.0, minimum 14.0 (maybe the mildest December night on record here?).  Wind fresh SW.

Just been looking at the stats for Reading University this month at http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/weatherdata/Reading_monthly_summaries.html - December has been a serious blowtorch month here, with a mean temperature so far of just under 11C, that's 5C+ above normal (I'm expecting to record slightly higher than that here, as we are in a sheltered site nearer the town centre and generally about 0.5C warmer).  To put it into perspective, that's a greater positive departure from the long-term average than the negative departure in December 2010.  And like November it has been rather dry and exceptionally dull, with a combined total for the two months of less than 50 hours.
