Following on from the dullest November on record, how are we doing on the sunshine level front?

We've had a few hours here and there but in the main it is turning into a very similar month on the sunshine front.. woeful outlook as well in this perspective.

I'm really despising how this year is ending up, the heavy rains and endless grey - blame that super El Nino - good riddance to it I say, and don't come back again..

A number of widely-dispersed stations still with under 10 hours of sunshine so far this month:

Prestwick - 4.5

Eskdalemuir - 4.8

Herstmonceux - 6.5

Tiree - 6.9

Cork Airport - 7.4

Aberporth - 7.7

Magilligan - 8.5

Camborne 9.2

Rostherne - 9.9

The sun made half an attempt to come out a bit earlier. It was a strange sight.

Been dreadful around here. This is quintessential mild muck.

We're on 13.4hrs so far this month and 38.2hrs since 15th November - an average of 1.2hrs per day.

Last winter had 91 hours of sunshine each in December and January. What a contrast!

Just 6.5 hrs here including today. This month is definitely on course to be the dullest December on record.

Brierlow Bar, 18 miles north of here and just south of Buxton, has recorded only 5.3 hrs.

Yes, our photovoltaic panels last month only generated a tenth of their normal summer electricity output and about half of their normal winter output. Fortunately this is offset by a welcome lack of gas consumption on our heating!

8 hours here.

following the dullest november on record too!

Oh dear this month and last are likely to end up as one of the worst back to back months in history around here (in terms of rainfall and dullness), the associated mild gunk also adding to the woes..

The outlook looks more of the same - dire. Lets hope a New Year can bring new fortunes..
