Good chance we will return a below average CET figure for 1 Jan, widespread mins expected around freezing, mean maxes tomorrow across CET zone probably around the 4-7 degree mark, which will mean a return of around 3.5 degrees. Nothing special, but below all the same.

A bit boring I know, but I'd like to go for 4.2*C, just a tad below the LTA. I suspect hope that this will mask some considerable variability of temps within the month.

May I amend my guess to 7.2C, please?  Only 0.6C lower than previously, but I was perhaps a touch pessemistic to suspect a second unprecedented CET month in succession.

With 30+ daffs out in flower in my North Kent garden today,  I'm hoping for an end to Autumn this month :D expecting a mild first half of January and a colder end, 4.7 for me please

This is tricky now as changes do seem to be afoot in the NH.  Not sure what this will mean for us, but I suspect we won't see any notable cold weather in January, with mild/wet spells interspersed with more average/drier spells.  Taking this into account, I will go for 5.4C, please.  However, things are certainly looking more interesting than they were a week or so ago.

Agree with Don - tricky one to call, I remember at the end of November there were slight hints of more sustained Pm air into December (which never happened as we know) so is it wise to gauge what the models are trying to show a week or so ahead?

To my untrained eye I can see more of a mixture of 'colder' air and milder interludes and certainly more night time frosts (couldn't be less than this month) but certainly unsettled. I'll plump for 5.1c

"My previous stab was 2.1C I'd like to revise and go upwards to 3.1C."

Slightly regretting doing this the cold is coming quicker than I anticipated. With ice day beings modelled all quite tentative stuff.
