New Weather Station

Hard to say without perhaps a picture, or more details of the model.
My best guess is the basic unit is the same across a range of models and the more expensive options might have a solar sensor plugs in it.
If it's battery powered it could be a means to supply it  from an adapter or larger battery pack, which would be useful in more remote locations e.g. a holiday cabin not used through winter.

Need to know the exact station.
It'll either be a mini or micro USB, some allow a connection to upload data to the PC, others are just for accessing data on the station itself.
