Shame about the Forth Bridge being closed, this would be very inconvenient for people at the best of times, but more so over Christmas period visiting family and friends. But if the Forth Bridge is closed, hopefully the other three are still OK :D

As I understand it, the Forth Bridge is open and allowing hundreds of trains a day to shuttle between Edinburgh and Fife

Here's a picture of it:

says to traffic, not all traffic.

Bound to be windy at some point between now and then, which will offer a delay (excuse)

2 days after 2day Bank holiday, Mmmm

I wouldn't call windy conditions an excuse to slow work, health and safety is top priority!

Have you a link? Brilliant news if true and a great relief to commuters.

Hats off to the Engineers  who have worked during some pretty foul conditions. Don't care what they get paid, worth double!

Thanks Jo! On BBC website as well.

Absolutely fantastic work by the engineers and the public, who on the whole, have been patient and good humoured.

Must concentrate on getting it re-opened for HGVs as well (Feb?), once that happens plenty of time to find out if anything could have been done better. Personally I doubt it given the new crossing will be open next Dec. when a full assessment of the whole bridge can take place.
