Which Thermometers?

Recommended Posts

I need some advice regarding obtaining near accurate temperature readings. I'm going to buy a weather station from Instromet but have heard the temperature sensor overreads in high sunlight and im not keen on davis. As a check gauge I'm tempted on either a Stevenson screen with mercury thermometers or an aspirated screen from apogee. I like the idea of a Stevenson screen but would they be obsolete in 5 years and new digital technology used or preferred to the old. I like the idea of standard instruments but the US are replacing their Stevenson screens with aspirated ones and I wonder if the met office will do the same in the future and the way to go is aspirated.

Many Thanks
