My take on things at the moment is,more of the same please.

I say, let's have all this typical, boring, irritating weather now,in nov and even up to the xmas period, loads of it,week after week after week.

Let it rain and blow a hoolie as much as it wants.

It has to end at some point,it always does. Now for the IMBY bit(sorry) down here we have as much chance of seeing a decent cold spell this side of xmas as plymouth has of staying top of league 2.

Save the nice East Winds for when they'll make a difference.

So,my wish,Atlantic wind and rain till xmas, turning colder around new year, snowmaggedden first half of Jan. If only :)

Be careful what you wish for...that's what happened in 2013/14, and as we all remember it went on and on and on, making the lives of many people an utter misery in the process. Edited by Carl46Wrexham

ECM and GFS now in deep FI going for a relief with high pressure around 9th, too far ahead to be confident yet, expect nearer the time for it to be flattened out

As much as I like a nice bit of weather, I really hope people don't have a miserable wet, flooded, nasty cold winter. Haven't used the car for a couple of weeks and it is due for an MOT today, just checked and it has gone mouldy inside :-o

Not often I pop into this thread but the current pattern is just grim to the extreme. Dull, wet and windy everyday. Never calm enough to make a difference when it is mild and always too mobile for any frost and no chance of anything wintry here at sea level.

Its not even a novelty as the last two winters were exactly the same, in fact January 2013 is the last time we had any measurable lying snow. Luckily winter only starts tomorrow so its unlikely to last into winter proper (hopefully!).

This has gone beyond incredulous now. Woke up today to clear skies with a thin covering of snow to find the temperature still failed to go below zero :wallbash: Diabolical at a time of year when frost used to be routine enough not to even warrant a comment.

30 years ago it went down to -15C at Dyce at the end of November 1985. Speaks volumes about how lame, pathetic and 10th rate our climate has become when cold spells at this time of year no longer even result in sub-zero minima.

Tonight it's just the same garbage yet again. Clear skies but the same vile disgusting nagging wind that never let up the whole of the past two winters delivering the same static temperatures as anticyclonic gloom :lazy:

I'd offer odds-on that this coming winter will see a record low number of frosts. Certainly the first week is looking absolutely awful with no end in sight to this ridiculous nonsense.

Well, at least it's not raining anymore. Everyone I talk to is really getting fed up with this never-ending wet, sunless weather that poses no benefit to anyone. Don't care about the temperature, snow or not, mild or cold, whatever - just some dry, sunny weather. Just for a day or two.. please?

exactly what I think! mild will do that's why I posted ECM  FI chart earlier

not sure how to post charts though without a clickable link, (as this chart will change every model run) and it could be showing something different

And how often did this happen. Not often I bet. Don't remember the end of November 1985 being as I was only 8 months old at the time but I reckon it wasn't like that at the end of November's 1984 and 1986 though. In fact i've heard that December 1985 was very mild but was followed by the last sub zero CET month before December 2010, which was February 1986. I've also heard that December 1986 was quite average and in the Christmas weather thread BFTP posted about his memories of Christmas 1986 and how mild it was, and we all know about how January 1987 was a different story with the South East of England in particular recording its lowest temperatures since the Little Ice Age, apparently. Some people expect too much too soon it seems. For example my Mum was telling me today how she's heard people saying how it doesn't feel like Christmas. Probably has alot to do with the fact that it isn't Christmas yet. In fact it isn't even December and Winter for another 9 minutes (at time of typing).
