  • Mmm something not stacking up as lunchtime weather shows 10 degrees on Sunday!

Temps will start to tumble Sunday Sparky so I wouldn't read to much into that ! Weather front to clear introducing much colder weather. It most def will not be 10 degrees

BBC app telling me max temp on Sunday will be 7℃ falling to 3℃ at 6pm with snow for the rest of night. Taken with a healthy dose of salt though.

On a more immediate note the met have issued a snow and ice warning (around 200metres) for all of N Ireland this evening/tonight.

Brief snow shower earlier, which was nice. That makes it 15 days this year with sleet or snow falling (just 11 air frosts), pity each one of those was marginal and managed just 2 very brief coverings.

^^^^^

I would presume so,we all would have a good chance of that if the ecm charts came true.

So will this poor excuse of a winter have a sting in its tail???? If similar charts are showing over the weekend i think we can begin to get excited especially cos thise charts are not deep fi charts.

A friend of mine is in Tenerife and it's snowing! He would have had better weather back here.... Isn't that saying something.  Was speaking with a Polish gent today and he was telling me how much their winters and summers have changed in recent years too.

Im still keeping the faith that winter will arrive.... The dice will eventually go our way.

A weekend to forget, weather-wise. Breezy, drizzly, mild.... boring.
At least next week seems to be offering some cold and even a bit of snow potential

Models starting to look very interesting from midweek on. Thursday night Into Friday could bring snow joy. No point getting excited just yet, though.

This morning's GFS runs appear to show the beginnings of the disappearing act. The 12 and 18z showed the front on Thursday/Friday rolling through Ireland into Britain but the 0 and 6z has it stalling off the west of Ireland now and sinking south to give Spain a pasting. Surprise surprise!

18z tonight has the front further inland, some parts of Ireland could do well if this comes to pass.

Todays 12z has heavier precipitation covering all of Ireland, however, the warm sector is more pronounced so looks like cold rain.

Hopefully the 18z holds precipitation in place and squeezes out mild sector.

On the week ahead weather on BBC it showed the front moving east as far a Wales and then retreating back west through Ireland where it turns to snow. Could all be very different later in the week.

18z appears to be more positive, by 7am on Saturday morning the mild sector has been squeezed out and ppn showing as snow.

Furthermore, the feature on Wednesday has come up as snow as well, a little bonus?

Some precipitation moving into the North West, is it Wintry?

Currently -1 and just had a sleety snow shower. -1 and still won't snow properly ha. Snow flakes mixed froze on impact and there is a thin covering of ice everywhere.

Light dusting here this morning with a hard frost. Nice snow shower just moved through with big fat flakes. Tried to catch them on the phone, not great quality.

Met Eireann were way off with their minimum temps forecast for last night. They predicted down to -3C, yet 4 stations got below -5C, with Mullingar at -5.9C!
