Miserable day, dull and wet and still raining.

Chilly aswell, max temp a few degrees below normal 8.6c. I do like seeing how late in the season i can record max temps in single figures, last yr was during early may with one or two days similar to today.

On 4/17/2016 at 9:58 PM, because said:

next weekend has 850 temp anomalies of 10'C over Ireland . winter holds on as the Arctic flows south ' Beaufort gyre driving our weather ?  Sam ?

Who knows? I suppose the break up of the vortex is playing it's part. How much colder would the next 10 days be if we had frigid sea ice extending down close to Scandinavia, rather the the mild open oceans and record low ice coverage at the moment?

Anyway, a fantastic summer like day today. A min of 1.7C, then climbing to 17.0C with blue skies for the whole day. Great weather before plunging into the freezer for the weekend.

Some very heavy hail showers here today which gave temporary coverings,at times my back garden looked like it had some snow cover so big were the hailstones. Just about managed double figure temps, max temp of 10.0c in the early afternoon, then the showers got going.

Currently clear ,bit of a breeze,temp 5.4c.

Patchy dusting of snow this morning on grass cars etc and low hills completely white. Around 11.30 had a very heavy snow shower which lasted for ten minutes. Was surprised to see it snow at that time of day. I've recorded snow falling 5 days this April maybe 6

Every shower here the last 2 days has been mainly hail. Already down to 4.9C, so another frosty night is on the cards.
