Cold rainy rain here, although it did look like it was snowing up on the hills when I was heading home from Berwick. I feel a hill walk coming on later, assuming it has been snowing and sticking higher up :)

Snowing at Soutra from that mini-band of prep.

It's trying its wee best to snow here now too, still sleet but it's got that twist to it which only sleet or snow has as it falls.

I know I've mentioned this before but GFS is up to its old tricks again, modelling cold uppers in the 3-7 day range before watering them down as the time approaches. A couple of days ago Leuchars was modelled to have -6c to -8c 850s from today through Monday. Now (6z) it's -4c or -5c 850s for today and tomorrow with the colder -6c to -8c 850s pushed back to Saturday through Monday. A subtle difference but one which can have a big impact on the prospects of accumulating lowland snow. It's a pattern I've observed again and again over the last few winters (with GFS). Of course the reverse never seems to happen!

That said it makes no difference to me because -8c 850s when combined with an easterly breeze still isn't going to bring snow to Crail :D

Nothing here for now. Don't mind anyway as I have a MetO SWW for snaw for Carrbridge the morn. My mate and family are already up there armed with sledges so that'll probably jinx it though.

EDIT. Crappy light drizzle on now.

It was a wee bit nippy this morning, temp having gone down to 1c around about 6am. Clouded over and any frost disappeared pretty quickly. The rest of the week looks to be calm, cold and frosty with no snow in sight for this area. TBH I'm not that bothered about it, I'm happy with dry and cold! For those who do get some of the white stuff, enjoy!

Nevis Range is looking not too shabby at the moment, hoping for a few more showers before the weekend.

Decided to go for it, self-catering lodge booked for 3 nights so will hopefully be skiing Nevis Range on Sat & Sun. Looked like the best bet overall. Snow reports seem decent enough and weather forecast isn't too windy or cloudy.

Watch out for some kid in a black & orange jacket and grey helmet tearing down the slopes. More than likely it'll be my son, with me and the wife somewhere behind yelling at him to slow down.

Oh yeah, this is a weather forum...ehm...broken cloud and dry all day here with temp maxing out at 5.0C in Dyce.

Sleety rain here in Stirling, about 3c.

Tbh, i've been enjoying the increasing strength of the sun recently (and actually seeing it!)... My thoughts are turning to warmer and sunnier times. Snow wise, this winter hasn't been that poor. Cold wise - diabolical.

Yes we still have 2-4 weeks left but time for lying snow (for more than 1/2 days) and some cold (say less than -5c at night and ice days) is running out imo.

Sure, it can come later but then it's always a case of 'what if it came mid-Jan...'

Ready for spring tbh but i realise that will be May haha

With all due respect edo  I don't think it's a surprise, the Euro4 has been on this for a day or more now. Still lovely though and not having a go bud :)

Been no complaints about that here recently, other than being stuck in work so I don't actually get the benefit. I did notice that yesterday, or maybe Monday, I managed to get home from work before it got completely dark as it was a clear evening. If there's one thing I hate about mid winter it's being sat in work as it gets dark at 3pm. Just to be able to drive home in the light makes me feel so much better.

Heyhey!

Reporting from Barcelona where I have been for the past week. When I arrived it had been 92 days since rain had last totalled an amount over 1mm. Thankfully that has changed now. Sparkling sunshine has essentially been the norm but now the jet is shifting south -allowing for a bit of cold air in the UK!- and so today has been a rather cloudy and drizzly rain with 1.1mm in BCN city centre. My mum was like wrap up it's frigid out there and it was drizzle and 11ºC which is a nice day by my standards atm lol Having said which it got to 20C during the weekend with minima around 13-15C. In fact I was in Benifallet, Southern Catalonia visiting my grandpa in the village and the station closest to us in Aldover maxed for Catalonia at 23.5C. So not surprised these people feel cold when it comes down close to ten!

Looking forward to seeing some frost on Saturday when I get back. But oh boy will I not miss this...See you soon! :)

You're halfway to becoming Scottish with that attitude towards the weather, calling drizzle and 11C a nice day :D If you start saying "it's too hot" when the temp hits 25C then you will be accepted for full citizenship.

2.4C and no amount of walloping anything is going to let me see the stars through the cloud.

Aye @Ravelin it was snowing almost down to ground level in the Fort today.  The hill is looking in good form - enjoy!  Incidentally I awoke to over an inch of snaw on the ground this morning...which was nice.

-2 C here in Carrbridge with a covering of snaw on the ground.

Long drive, but log fire on and beer in hand now. Just need one of those showers in the Moray Firth to reach me.

Is your mate from Falkirk by any chance? My neighbour's in Carrbridge with his family and a stonking log fire.

One of those showers is currently delivering soft hail on the coast here so would def be good for you.  Looks like there might be a few heading in over the next few hours, although there's a bit of a mix of air masses, some not quite as chilly.  Then the weekend starts...

If only the winds and the uppers were a bit stronger, this setup is a God send for us here. Hogmanay (2010 I think?) saw a foot of snow under a perfectly aligned NErly here.
