MO have updated amber warning for today.. can't see what they've changed though :D

They've moved the amber warning well away from me which can only be a good sign :D

Good couple of inches around the garden but as others have been saying, difficult to guage as it's been blowing about so much.  3/4" on top of wheelie bins.

Whatever, just glad to see  it!   Not sure what time it came on as I was up around 4am and there was nothing then.

Light covering before the rain arrived around 20mins ago then it was scorching for past 10mins now it's clouding over again ha!

Hoping for some snow in next few hours to gain a better covering.

4 cm or so now here. Going to go for some winter driving soon. :D

EDIT. Shower passing through. Wind blaws a hoolie as a result. Currently like a scene fae Scott o' the Antarctic out there.

Still snowing, still very sideways but I have to admit to now being impressed. To get any snow off a westerly here is good going, we're a long way east (15 miles from Berwick):

That trough up to the northwest is worth watching and could deliver quite a bit snow to a few "lucky" places later I think.

Or rain, as it is here & now!

You're just not "lucky" :p

No doubt if it is an organised feature our "rain shield" will fail and as the milder embedded air moves in what the snow couldn't get through the rain will! Elsewhere may be more fortunate though.

Just attempted to take the kids to the park. BIG mistake! Absolutely freezing in the wind and decended into a whine-a-thon in about 5mins!

I noticed that milder 950 temps move in Inverness northwards for a while this morning/afternoon but didn't want to say anything.

After a brief shower this morning, clear skies now in Crail, temp 2.6c. A thin cover reported in St Andrews but Crail snaw shield working as effectively as ever.

Both of these photos were taken minutes ago. One is a few miles away on the road between Cupar and Auchtermuchty. The other is here in Crail. No prize for guessing which is which.

Snowing heavily here at the moment. Probably about 5 cm lying, but it has been drifting a bit.

Funnily enough a friend said exactly the same thing just now on Facebook! I do like living here though (lack of snow notwithstanding!).

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
