It really is too close to call with uppers just on the wrong side of marginal but surface cold maybe making the difference for some. I'm just 10 miles north east of Glasgow and its still snow for me from the little bunch of showers ahead of the main band but it wouldn't surprise me to see it turn to rain. 1.0c/-0.2c.

Sleet here now, had light snow for past half hour but now sleet. Surprisingly only snow that melted today was on roofs, still good 5/6cm on ground.

I've been watching that front  moving in all day and I'm slowly losing the will to live.    I could have walked here faster!   0.2c/-0.7c.

I've been across the whole of the south of Scotland this evening (Kelso to home to Kilmacolm to Haddington to home...don't ask) Snow in places but very patchy, freezing rain in other places. Big differences in temps, it seems to be colder here than up in the central belt.

Longer term looks quite interesting if it pans out ok, Scandi high and an easterly. Would be a big ask but we're owed a beauty.

Looked outside and there has been the smallest of showers...can see individual flakes lying on the paving slabs so clearly still cold here and weather station says -0.9

Like yesterday expecting nothing but u never know

Sledge run needs a top up that's for sure

Iron hard out there again tonight at -2c. This is begining to feel like a winter of the sixties where east wind weather would set in in February with harsh frosts but  with lots of nice sunny days lasting well  into March. I remember that was the time for cutting lots of whins and broom bushes on the farm with warm bonfires. Winds would then go round to the north in late March and  early April with outbreaks of snowy weather. Sowing of crops then occured in mid to late April

Something is falling but despite me having very good eyesight, its so fine that I can't tell what it is. Current Temp and dew point is 0.2/-1.7C so that would suggest snow but with the milder uppers, that could scupper it. Still quite a bit of snow lying here although clearly less deep on the top of huts etc. Had a max of 0.9C today.

Just above freezing here. It's raining very lightly. Not sure what fell overnight. No new snow but surprisingly we've not lost much (of what was left).

Lightly snowing here as I did the ritual Monday trek with the bins to the road. They don't drive up the track when there is snow lying, even though the oil tanker guys and coal guys etc do (provided it's not crazy snow), so they're either cheeky scamps/prima donna's or the council need to explore the joys of winter tires. -1.4c

Had a bit more snow overnight but it appears to be raining now. As if Monday morning back to work wasn't depressing enough.

There's a tasteless reply to that which is best left alone.  Guys on the bin lorries here are sound and some good banter may be had.

Bathroom's Baltic, ground's like iron, there's a bucket full of ice outside that will double as a lethal weapon, pavements are lethal, and the sky is grey and heavy.  Proper midwinter.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
