:santa-emoji:Good morning and a very Merry Christmas to one and all from a very green Skye! Temp 3.1c, cloudy with light rain. Large fat geezer in red suit arrived on time and was very generous with gifts, especially in the booze dept! Gin and one of my fave drams Highland Park were to be found amongst the scrunched up piles of Christmas paper. Hope everyone gets all they wish for today...that would off course include SNAW! Have a blast everyone! :cold-emoji:

Disappointingly, the big Elsa doll, which I've been told in no uncertain terms isn't singing "let it snow" when you press the button, wasn't for me.

Did well with other goodies though!

Merry Christmas to all;  have a great day.

Some interesting FI charts the morn.

Yellow rain warning issued for parts of Scotland

Issued at: 1038 on Fri 25 Dec 2015

Valid from: 0015 on Sat 26 Dec 2015

Valid to: 2200 on Sat 26 Dec 2015

A band of rain will arrive from the south overnight Friday night into Saturday and is then expected to last until late Saturday evening, before easing in intensity. Before this happens, rain will be persistent, and perhaps heavy at times, mainly across the hillier regions of Aberdeenshire and Angus. Additionally rain will turn to snow over high ground, with several cm accumulating at the level of the highest road passes. Please be aware of the potential for some localised disruption to travel, either from flooding or from upland snowfall.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

A series of weather fronts will move north across Scotland, bringing a fairly persistent spell of rain to parts of eastern Scotland. The developing strong easterly wind will mean that higher ground within this area could see heavy rainfall, with the possibility of some flooding during Saturday. Additionally some snowfall is expected, mainly above about 300m, with several cm on roads above 450m. There remains some uncertainty in details, with this warning likely to be updated early on Saturday.

Merry Christmas to all on the forum.  Sorry that is not a widespread white one but tbh they have always been the exception to the rule, at least at lower levels.

Here on the Cromarty firth it is bright and relatively calm after a windy night.

l could hear the wind on the bedroom window at 4am. The wife reckons it was Santa and his reindeers!

Interesting charts in the next 7 days. Who knows could be a snowmagedden January!

Just popping in before stuffing myself with Xmas dinner to say Merry Xmas.

Weather cool but not cold or anything exciting. Models continue to look interesting.

np3x8h.jpg102-289UK.GIF?25-12Crimbo greetings :-)

This is the one I've been concerned about for a few days, GFS has been modelling wind gusts up to 80 mph for the 29th/30th. Not uncommon for the Western Isles but exceptional for inland areas. Now that the Met Office have issued a general warning for it, and five days in advance too, makes it less of a GFS bad dream fantasy and more of a realistic possibility ...

Edit ... :bomb:12Z GFS has 86 mph gusts modelled for the capital !

The Beeb say it's cold out but I'm staying snuggled up inside now - gonna roast the bambi soon while trying out some new culinary toys.

Heavy wet snaw here. No lying, but unexpected and nice all the same.

2.4 C / DP = 0.6 C.

Looks wilder up Soutra on the cam.

EDIT.

Snaw now. Lying too. T down to 2.0 C and DP to 0.2 C :cold-emoji::drunk-emoji::reindeer-emoji:

EDIT again

Massive old penny sized flakes now. Lawn turning white.

You could land a sleigh on that at a push.

T = 1.8 C / DP = -0.1 C.

Coming up on a cm lying.

EDIT. Update with pic of road oot front. Coming on 2 cm on the gairden picnic bench.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas. Not particulary cold but much more seasonable than of late and hopefully the charts promising snow in the New Year will come to fruition.

Did see some big flakes of snow tonight even down near the southern coast.

Predominantly it was the rain that was most noticeable though....

we were commenting on just how wet a year it has been.

A gloriously dry, warm September and October aside... It's been very poor.

Let's hope 2016 gets off to a snowy start and then we get some sunshine and heat in the summer.

I can dream anyway....

Merry Christmas! :)
