Well there are -5c uppers around but maybe the heavier precipitation has brought the cold air lower down around here-evaporative cooling.

Yep, snowing here too but the ground is too wet for it to settle.

But it's pretty to watch it falling (whilst there's enough light) ....

Suddenly have an hour ago turned from sleet to snow.

Mixture of snow and sleet now, but the grass is being covered.

Temperature was at 3.4C at 17;00 now at 1.0C , now just dropped to 0.9C, and a covering starting for the ground.
Snow/sleet still continuing, but not as heavy as when it turned.

Wind, very ligjht but seems to have an n-easterly element to it now judging by the snow flakes.

Wow... didn't expect this

Not sure what happened with the above post. But anyway its a  big cheer and drink for me

According to the MetO it's currently raining. They can't even get it right when it's actually happening!

What is this "snow"  people are talking about? Absolute rubbish! Shropshire is an awful place to live if you love weather. Snow is non existent in winter storms come along every 3-4 years and the summer is cloudzilla from 9am till 7pm! Thats my rant over you guys that have snow enjoy it.

Been snowing in Birmingham for the last 30 minutes or so, been quite heavy actually. Settling on cars but not on pavements as its too wet from earlier.

Better than I thought we'd get. But shows its cold enough to snow, hopefully the radar blows some more of the white stuff into our region.

Look at the latest radar and just look at the hole where Shropshire is....

How is it supposed to snow with no precipitation, but then when it does get here it magically all turns to rain. Beyond a joke now.

I feel your pain mate, apart from a few flakes this morning we've had nothing here again either.I thought living north of Derby we'd be in for a good chance.Obvoiusly not!!.

Yh strange on the way back from Buxton it wasn't snowing in many areas at all. Even the areas reporting snow now. Shows how quick the uppers are dropping rapidly. Bk in the black country it's damp and dull. Got a nice vid of a drive from buxton to Flash but my bf was swearing a bit so I don't know if I am allowed to post it lol. Gd luck to you all tonight.

A bit odd really. Still snowing  here and is beginning to settle readily.

Temperature now down to 0.5C, with no wind - we must be in the center of the slow moving low as it drifts south.

Actually raining here now.

Looks like height is having nothing to do with who is getting snow. The boundary between milder and colder uppers must be very defined somewhere between here and Brum!

For the areas of the midlands that are seeing snow: The main band of precipitation is coming down from the north and should reach us by 9pm. If anything the air should be slightly colder then so maybe a covering or so could be on the cards...
