It seems to be turning to snow to lower levels than forecast. As the band pivots over us later I think there's a real chance of a few hours of sleet or snow. On my way to Buxton soon hope the roads are not to bad lol.

A very thin scattering of snow here and a few flakes drifting down. The main area of snow is a few miles to the north, from Buxton northward.

It's certainly cold enough for snow with a temperature of -0.5c.

Looks like there might be some sleet around 11am here in Dudley, perhaps turning to snow? Currently 1.4C dewpoint -0.3C.

Still moderate snow but fine flakes....  Grit around here must have been washed away last night in the rain/sleet as roads are bad and some places with roads closed have less than and inch of snow....but as always happens peeps not used to driving in any amount of snow.... Im not driving today but will sneak out in a bit into glossop bit of a walk but will really appreciate it as its been so bad this winter up until now...

Moderate snow here with a few cm covering so far, just a few miles North the snow is more intense.

I don't mean to blow my own trumpet but I did say :D

Glossop is like flippin Narnia. Beautiful day down here though, wall to wall sunshine and it feels warm in the sun.

Its at times like this that I wish the Peak District had its own forum, its just so cruel on the rest of us LOL. Bright Sunshine here in Nottingham although definitely clouding over to the North of the City with rain, sleet or snow forecast for later, unfortunately I don't think it will be the latter for us, just too marginal, maybe higher areas of North Notts will get a decent covering though

Morning

Good to hear the snow !! I would love to be in buxton now !!

just checked the 10-1015 radar loop & pleased for you that the PPN arc is beginning to sink south whilst the echoes still move WSW

so the sweet spot will be places like high peak in the North of the region

however some deep yellow echoes marching west from doncaster & upwind @ sc unthorpe

expect the southern part of the derby peaks to come into the fray more as well

target depth totals for the tops 8-10 inches !

snowing in Coalville, although the sun is still out. Can see the dark clouds to the north, been watching them roll ever so slowly closer all morning.

As nobble has confirmed it's snowing here. Fairly light though and not settling, yet at least.

Enjoy your snow, none here of course but we woke to frost and the most stunning day. Sadly it has clouded over a fair bit now so feels much colder.

Agreed. I thought last night that all hope for today was lost, so this is a pleasant surprise. Saying that it seems to have stopped altogether, hopefully just temporarily.

So the BBC got it wrong again. Rain at low levels below 200m blah blah blah. No forecasting is not an exact science but oh so wrong. We had rain, dry and more rain forecasted.  We have light snow all morning. Yet to settle but a good 2*C colder.

With all the super computers.  Useless.
