Well, that's a turn-up. Braved the wind and went out along my road. Looked on a couple of cars and... a tiny deposit of white along the bottom of windscreens! Road just wet, but there must have been a tiny, very localised snow shower. First of the season! (Hope it won't be the last... sadly the blob coming down the M6 looks like just missing me to the E. :p)

Just clouding over and wind picked up. Nothing falling yet though

As I say that snow starting to fall at only 135m all which might bode well for later

Stopped now, but had to go out side, had to, it would be rude not too.

Depth measured at just over 4cm

Icing sugar dusting on cars, roofs and long grass. To wet for roads and pavements. Savouring every flake and so we should do too. This is more snow than I've seen in the last 2 winters combined! The most since March 13. Just goes to show how super duper the last few years have been.

Best get back to savouring it..could be the first and last flakes of the winter!

Edit - Forgot last Boxing Day.

I don't mean to be a party pooper but i've just had a look at the 18z run and my heart has sunk

The reason for the snow at the moment in some parts seems to be down to the colder 850's that are over the Midlands at the moment.

Once those milder 850's head in later on in the night when the main batch of PPN moves down, it looks like rain/sleet for many in the Midlands :(

Not January 14th this year? We at least managed 1cm that stayed till after lunch that day.

Rain being reported up in Cheshire on the NW thread, if thats the case I hope it stays clear so we might get a frost.
