Just re-calibrated my rain gauge in preparation for tonight.

Been dry now here for a while with just 5.4 mm of rain so far today.

Temp has risen to 12.4°C, so definitely in the warm sector now. I suspect that there won't be much to talk about here as was the case in Nov 2009 when it stayed mainly dry.

Well that was as clear as mud.

Meto amber warnings now cover much of northern England with the western Pennines in the firing line along with Cumbria for upwards of 250 mm falling.

Eno Equator is having nothing of this and only mentioned Cumbria as being under an Amber warning.

Something has to give and by this time tomorrow we will know.

Heavy rain now ,not looking good :(...10 inches of rain in the lakes forecast :0...

And if that amount does fall expect some serious impacts, people being told to evacuate their homes in parts of Cumbria and stay with people with a lower risk of flooding, got family and friends in flood prone areas and they are very worried tonight...

Getting heavier here now and looking at the radar there's plenty more to come before this event is over.

Stay safe fellow northwesterners.

You can see on the radar as soon as the rain hits land it gets more intense.

Getting heavier here..... A few intenser echos on radars around here now....although unlikely to flood up here.... If it did manchester would be under 300m of water...☔ http://www.gaugemap.co.uk/#!Map/Summary/542/550

May come of interest tomorrow...

Looking at the radar the rain is certainly intensifying as it hits the higher ground of East Lancashire now.

Glossop has flooded twice before in recent times, it has some 3 feeder-rivers from Bleaklow and Featherbed Moss and with the hills already saturated it doesn't take much time for the water to easily run-off into the town. Similar with Buxton that has a lapse-effect with the River Wye.
