Rain and hail showers overnight.. ironically a bolt of lightning hit an electricity box somewhere in Wirral. Big massive flash last night.

Thunder and lightning :cc_confused:, T = +2.6C. Heavy snow showers from 6pm last night. Clwydian range and hills above 250m are pure white. Lovely scene. :yahoo:

Feels much colder this morning. Murmors on the model thread of snow event tomorrow night as what was meant to only reach Scotland is being modelled further south. Ties in with meto app which has Ashton down for snow sat night (which will change for sure before tomorrow).

Prospects for this afternoon seem to be that the pptn could come at a worse time. It'll be 5c here this afternoon, so not cold enough for really anything wintry. Tomorrow night showing light snow all night but then rain during Sunday lunchtime, with rain forecast Monday with temps about 4c. Still all seems too borderline still!

Also to add, that with the precip being progged further south tomorrow night, the milder uppers do seem to be winning out this weekend by a quick look at the GFS.

Yeah rain again! So far the best we've had is hail/sleet/thunder.

I have no idea how reliable the Arpege model is,i believe Met office rate it quite highly, this model

is also showing a snow Event Saturday night,However until Meto are on board and I see warnings and

the Graphics on the BBC I will not be getting sucked in.despite what those Appy things show on the

Meto site.

Bit of a feeble cold spell so far, bring back the 80's cold. I remember many a time walking to school even here on the coast we had snow on the ground or snow was falling during winter. These marginal situations have definately increased over the years unfortunately :nonono:

Fed up of the word marginal or downgrade too!

Any thoughts on whether we can squeeze any snow chances for more inland areas of the region over the next few days now were have some reasonably cold air in place:

- the little occlusion shown by the Meto FAX for this afternoon (just at the warmest time of day and maybe too weak to give much inland)

- the warm front/area of moisture showing on some of the hi res models for Saturday night (I wasn't expecting that and still expect it will correct back NW and only impact W Scotland, but one to watch).  Seems destined to give a cloud cover and take away a hard frost and sunny Sunday - if so hope it at least gives us some snow.  Big doubts though.

- snow on the Atlantic breakdown, or breakdowns next week - anytime from Sunday night to Thursday given the modelling issues - I don't think anyone can say what will happen yet.

Anyway, more interesting then grey, mild, wet and windy.

Cold and clear this morning. Will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow but our met o forecast shows light snow from around 5pm until sunday morning, with rain forecast for this afternoon.

Could see all the showers out over Morecambe Bay as well earlier.

And i've no idea why i'm quoting minus 10

Wind is offshore from tomorrow so will do much better at the coast.

2nd clear sky morning in a row, hard frost overnight...Sun weak in strength but nice to have out.  Still not expecting anything wintry in terms of precipitation, although that feature on Saturday has thrown a spanner in the works.  I expect the models have been spooked by hurricane Alex...(he always was unpredictable)

The one good thing about living here is that  with a SE flow we have the longest land fetch,  so I'm very optimistic for Saturday night.

I Think there may be a lot of Head Scratching in Exeter going on,all the models seem to be

going for this snow event Saturday night, all this after a cold and dry weekend was forecast

Has Alex thrown a big spanner in the works?

I wonder
