Hi ,just wondered why the gfs is only updated to T+92 hrs on its 12z. I can get the 06z fine? :cc_confused:

It doesn't want to shock us with some exceptionally mild charts...

Yes, there was a delay in the data, it's pretty much finished now - we're just waiting on 120 and 372 hours but the rest are in.

Thanks Paul :)

12z is very delayed again tonight - 0.25 degree files again being slow to come down.

Hi Paul. Do you know why this is happening? :cc_confused:

Congestion on the network at NOAA by the looks of it - I've asked them what's happening. It's only affecting the 12z.

Cheers, thanks for the info :good:

It's the same problem as before I'm afraid Ian, we're trying to code round it, but if the 0.25 degree files don't download due to the network/servers at ncep being hammered there's not a lot we can do.

We've got new code in place which should mitigate it as much as possible, hopefully from now.

No worries there Paul, thanks again :)

It's chugging through more now, since we got the new code in, which bodes well for tomorrow. To give you an idea of the problems, usually each data file takes less than a minute to download, but due to this issue, the data files take up to 30 minutes to get them on the 12z. The slowness is bad enough, but you also get some failing part way through, and other things timing out on our side as they wait for the files and it gets a bit messy.

Hopefully our side is setup to cope better now though, so although there may be a delay compared to other runs until this problem is solved, it shouldn't be as bad as it has been.
