Producing your own synoptics/weather.

Was just thinking how cool it would be if you could create your own synoptics,weather and conditions on your pc.Wonder if its possible to create the ultimate winter set up ete and the actuall weather conditions at sea level???

Try geoengineering if you want to manipulate the weather. lol.

It would be pretty time-consuming unfortunately, you'd either have to hand-draw the charts, or create some sort of primitive atmospheric circulation model.  I tried the former initially, then graduated to the latter, but I sort of cheated, because I created a ficticious parallel universe where the Arctic consists of a land mass and thus ends up almost as cold as Antarctica, and where the synoptic progressions are like those in the Southern Hemisphere (an irregular series of anticyclones moving slowly from west to east, but with high, rather than low, pressure near the pole, enabling more potent northerlies to occur). 

 

Here's a fantasy chart for Christmas Day:

That colder Arctic is handy for when we get polar maritime westerlies.

 

And here's an early-January easterly that may remind some of 11-13 January 1987.  In this fantasy climate, the general synoptic route to this setup is a northerly followed by high pressure moving across to the north, continuing to pull the cold air down and across from the east.
