Fantastic to see Molinari win. He's been just about the best in the world Tee to green for about 5 years, now he's become a "decent enough" putter, he's getting the rewards he deserves. A stalwart of

Looks a very good team, the wildcards are all people you might have expected to qualify anyway and only strengthen the team. Love the course, the French open is just about my favourite tournament beca

HIs explanation made it even worse I think. He could have taken anything, but took the penalty, from which he may even have benefitted, not what the rules are there for. I would never have expected it

Spectator struck by Brooks Koepka's golf ball to sue Ryder Cup organisers

    Quote

A spectator struck by a golf ball at last weekend's Ryder Cup said she has lost the sight in her right eye and is planning to sue organisers.

Corine Remande, 49, had travelled to France from Egypt with her husband Raphael to watch the biennial showdown between Europe and the United States, held at Le Golf National club in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines just outside Paris.

You have to wonder how much longer it is before the European Tour becomes widely considered a second-rate tour.

It's not just about the money.  The PGA tour has long had the bigger prize pots and for a journeyman player if you can get your PGA tour card then it makes financial sense to use it, the 100th ranked payer on the European tour got 391000 euros this year (£345000) PGA tour 100 ranked player $1.2million (£945000).  Nothing wrong with choosing to triple your potential earnings.

But the top European players in the past always seemed to try and support the Euro tour.  But that seems to be slipping away.  For them it is not about money, it is now all about peaking at the right time for the big tournaments and if that means sacrificing the Euro tour so be it.

Then it becomes a downward spiral, less big names at Euro Tournaments, less sponsorship, less sponsorship smaller prize fund, smaller prize fund more players switching to the PGA tour.  If not careful the Euro tour will be made up of players who either cannot get their PGA card or, for whatever reason, don't want to base themselves in the US.

Think drastic actions may need to be taken, such as saying if you won't play on the Euro Tour then you cannot play in the Ryder Cup.  Won't be a popular decision but its better than seeing the Euro Tour become nothing more than a second Division tour.

Justin Rose survived a nervy start and a late charge from Adam Scott to earn a landmark victory at the Farmers Insurance Open in California. Rose, three clear overnight, opened the door for the chasing pack when he bogeyed three of the first five holes on the final day, but he was a model of composure and patience thereafter as a clutch sixth birdie at the 72nd hole capped a two-shot win.

Fantastic for the world of golf...never thought he'd win a major again after the state he was in with his injuries/personal life etc a few years back. 15 majors now, a true great in the game!...feel for Francesco though, between the second round and up to the final 9 holes of today felt he was the most solid golfer out there, but golf is a cruel game.
