Met Eireann and the UK Met Office have just announced a pilot scheme to name significant low pressure systems this autumn/winter. They are looking for name suggestions.

Thought we'd start here, with any preliminary ideas -

Daisy and Poppy or Bawbag II  ?

Another nod to the fact that social media is now where people get their information.

A name is necessary for hashtag and trending - witness success of legendary Bawbag!

PS.....does this mean the Met are expecting a very stormy autumn/winter that will require greater public awareness?

they should do food related names.

So things like COCO, Rosyapple and Bap.

or beefstew.

Beefstew if it's gonna bring snow.

Name them after UK/ Irish meteorologists past and present. I'm sure there's plenty to choose from this list.

TBH 'An intense Atlantic depression' has always been enough for me. I can't imagine anything more silly than anthropomorphising Atlantic depressions! :D

How about 'Atlantic Storm Miliband'? A damp squib if ever there was one! :D

Hell no!!!......that was retired long ago due to the widespread national destruction.

Yes you have a point, surprised no one mentioned Michael

No offence meant though, just a bit of fun.
