#NameOurStorms low pressure naming this Autumn

Recommended Posts

Met Eireann and the UK Met Office have just announced a pilot scheme to name significant low pressure systems this autumn/winter. They are looking for name suggestions.

Thought we'd start here, with any preliminary ideas -

Daisy and Poppy or Bawbag II  ?

Another nod to the fact that social media is now where people get their information.

A name is necessary for hashtag and trending - witness success of legendary Bawbag!

PS.....does this mean the Met are expecting a very stormy autumn/winter that will require greater public awareness?

TBH 'An intense Atlantic depression' has always been enough for me. I can't imagine anything more silly than anthropomorphising Atlantic depressions! :D

Not impressed. Notable storms can be named after the year, month, special occasion or the town or area that was hit worst.

Oct 87 storm, Burns Day 90 storm, Christmas Eve 97 storm, Boxing Day 98 storm, Jan 76 storm etc,

Yes you have a point, surprised no one mentioned Michael

No offence meant though, just a bit of fun.
