Newbie Moving from Windows XP to Mac OS 10.10.4

Recommended Posts

Need advice please.

For the last 5 years I have been running a Davis Vantage Pro 2 / Weather Link 5.9.0 on a computer running Windows XP.

Poor computer is now very old and I think it is nearing the end of its life. It has served me well for the last 10 or so years so I can't complain.

I also have an iMac running Yosemite 10.10.4 but there is no weather software on it yet.

From what I can find on the net, the Weatherlink for Mac software does not support Solar Radiation or UV readings, which my VP2 has. Is this correct ?

Do I have to purchase WeatherLink for Mac and get the USB connection Data Logger or can I just purchase a Serial to USB connector to connect the current datalogger  to the Mac and possibly a different weather software package.

Could someone recommend a software package that would be suitable and includes the solar element.

I think I have found the saved weather data on the XP machine its under weather link/Davis/2015-08.wlk. (August 2015 data) Is this correct.

If so, can these files be copied onto a USB key and loaded onto the Mac when the new weather software is purchased and loaded. Will they then display in the software

As you can probably guess from the questions above I only have a limited knowledge of what I am trying to do. So any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks in advance

Someone here might be able to help, however a better place might be http://www.wxforum.net/ where they have more specialised sections for technical questions like that.
