Small cell just passed to the West of me, not a lot of thunder but quite a gusty wind following on behind. Moderately heavy rain now, but thunder very intermittent. Watch out Bridgwater, Burnham and Weston.

Just as I type this a very bright flash lit the room! Great thunder too. Heavy rain now falling.

UPDATE - Electrical activity seems to be very intermittent - maybe 4 - 5 minutes between each strike. Sky is overcast and wind has died off now. Nice audio on the thunder though

That cell heading into South Somerset as just invigorated on its eastern flank meaning I may just get in on the action now.

Bristol channel coasts look in line for it's centre.

It cannot be!

Just been under a very localised heavy shower with absolutely no convection, but it was convective earlier.

Annoyingly the wind has veered to the east here, so it looks unlikely we'll get our first storm of the summer as the onshore breeze is very efficient at killing off any convection. In such a westerly summer its quite ironic that this keeps happening.

50 miles west of here looks promising though.

The upward acceleration of the convective cloud pushes the moisture ahead of it forming a 'cap' Similar to the vortices you see from F1 cars rear wings under humid conditions.

Not particularly potent in the electrical department though, but it's got 75 miles or so to become a supercell. :)

Ye although isn't it all supposed to start pivoting soon, if not already, causing them to move more NW? The electrical activity seems to be heading to Wales, with Rain heading direct North. Will be close!

Just had some rain big drops too. Feeling very oppressive now. Clouds have been towering for 2/3 hours

Yep, sferics now crossing the channel into South East Wales.

Looks like the interest is heading across the bridge, with a bit of ordinary rain heading our way.

Oh well. :(

Storm passing by to the west which looks stunning. Not seen lightning but plenty of thunder heard. Signs of mammatus forming on back edge.
