Nearly 70-80,000 recent lightning strikes around that E Netherlands/W Germany storm. Doubtless loads more undetected. Incredible.

My friend is moving to Dusseldorf in August for two years and so I will have a base for chasing in Germany later this year and more especially next year. I will be looking forward to that opportunity. Currently storms moving over Dusseldorf and some flashes over the airport.

Take your pick. Map shows eventually at top left with cam locations and zoom in as for example Munster has two webcams in the same area, but it looks like just the one on the location map when zoom out

It's still pretty active when the camera pans to the left. On lightningmaps it shows another cell heading for Munster. There were some stikes which lit up the buildings close to the webcam and now the webcam has gone down :nonono: Wonder if it got hit?

Good spot and the Munster cam now looks like its under water must be torrential there at the moment. Visibility very poor as well no doubt due to the rain.

Been trying to watch the Leipzig webcam and had to give up, There's a spider's web across the glass in front of it and I'm an arachnophobe. I'm absolutely terrified the cam is going to pan across and a spider will appear.

Looks like a very warm few days coming up over here in France, with up to 40c forecast for Limousin by early next week before a very big bang! It'll be interesting to see what comes of this...

Some pics from this afternoon's storm - very intense rainfall and some amazing CG lightning but couldn't capture it.

Day 2 Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Sun 24 Jul 2016 - 05:59 UTC Mon 25 Jul 2016

ISSUED 18:45 UTC Sat 23 Jul 2016

ISSUED BY: Dan

A complex frontal system will spill northeastwards across the British Isles on Sunday, beneath an upper trough. A messy mix of dynamic and convective precipitation is expected with marginal instability, and hence the broad LOW threat level issued - although it is quite likely that many areas will be void of lightning.

The environment may be slightly more conducive for lightning within a narrow window of a few hours on Sunday afternoon over Northern Ireland in the immediate post-frontal airmass. Dewpoints in the mid teens Celsius combined with surface heating should yield 200-400 Jkg-1 MLCAPE, with the potential for a few scattered showers, perhaps a thunderstorm, to develop. 30-40kts DLS should allow some cell organisation to occur, with perhaps some small hail from the strongest cells. Have issued a low-end SLGT to highlight this area better.
