Interesting with this one over Buxton, can see it from my house aswell. Detached anvil but with a dry slot in-between and heavy rain at ground level.

This is one of those lovely thunderclouds over Merseyside gradually approaching the Greater Manchester area, backlit by the setting sun:

No thunder unfortunately (yet) but there are some damn menacing clouds around:

one of those cells passed near here, just a heavy-ish shower,  they look more impressive than they are   tbh  ,  not enough oomph in them for decent thundery activity ,   that vital  ingredient is missing , warmth !  these just feel like those run of the mill october/november showers than run in off the Irish sea, nice to look at though

Wow well a total surprise today, great cloud structures a 'possible' meso at least some nice motion. At one point before that I thought there could have been a funnel but bloody bushes and trees got me just a glimpse and it was the same colour as the clouds which made it hard to see and if it was it wasnt directly from the cloud base all in all though really impressed, was worth a chase. Got footage as well as well as pics! Will post the pics when I get home.

Impressively large convective raindrops here right now - just raced into the garden to bring in the washing!

EDIT: Looks like some very heavy showers coming toward me from the Dales...

Wow thanks for sharing Stormyking. Just what we love to see and one of the reasons we love storms! Just to be able to witness such an ellusive thing just makes it all the better if you get to see one, 2 or even 3 at the same time! :)

Sharing part 1 of the storm chaae with my bro of a storm that came through on Tuesday 28th. This storm seemed to have rotation and on radar as shown becomes a right mover. It takes a while to edit and sort so hopefully part 2 will be ready shortly. At the end it seemed to be trying for a funnel if not a brief 1 that didnt get too far.

Please post any views and observations positive or negative :)

Well something fun and cool for my 800th post here!

A little time lapse video from this afternoon - 1h 15m speeded up to 30 seconds. You can see the clouds forming and bubbling away nicely. I like it anyway :D

p.s. If you watch it, dont forget to change the quality to 720p cuz youtube has a habbit of just showing low res lol....

I'm in Paris as from Wednesday. By the look of things, I will have my camera at the ready because the models are showing some stormtastic charts!

Never experienced a real French classic yet, but this could be on the cards!

Oooh! Parisian storms can be really spectacular. I had a great one a few years ago when I happened to miss my flight and had to stay over an extra night in a hotel at CDG. I was on an upper floor so I had a great view of the almost constant CG strikes all around the airfield. There was complete daytime darkness in the morning - it was an incredible experience - made even more eerie by the fact that the airport was closed to air traffic due to the storm. You might even get the privilege of seeing a direct strike on the Tower or La Défense. Enjoy it - I'll be in Limousin from Monday where we should have some nice action as well...

Exciting stuff! Cannot wait for it! Will be spending my whole trip radar watching instead of shopping and sightseeing haha.
