Yeah, all the other stations nearby are about 16/17c, that just seems too high.

Wow, a min of 17C according to weatheronline on Tuesday.. we don't even get lows that high every year in July or August.

Some remarkable temperatures for early next week just look at the minimum temperatures for 3am Tuesday morning!

Some night time lows in June, July and August were lower than those!!

There's very mild, and then there's just ridiculous - those kind of minima in November are the latter. With that being said, I don't think that will come off.

What's with this seemingly unprecedented level of mildness?

Made all the more impressive when you consider that the record high mean CET for the 10th is 13.4C.

One gripe about Autumn is when leaf litter becomes wet on pavements turns slippery and into a horrible mush.

Yep, and some folk think trains getting delayed by slippery rails from falling leaves is an excuse if only councils could send out more road sweepers and clear the pavements like they could years ago before all the cut backs struck

Not a great spell at the moment. It would be nice to have some sunshine. That said at least it's making a saving on the heating bills.

A lot of comments have said they are fed up of this mild Autumn??? Maybe you want to check the CET figures, September was comfortably below average and October you can pretty much call average overall. It has only been the last week or so where have managed a more prolonged spell of above average temperatures.

Same here, Felt more like Autumn today and will progressively so over the coming week by the looks of it. Winds here picking up now gusts touching 50mph S/W.

Still feeling like September out there - far too warm to be November. The sooner the winds veer W/NW the better - bring back the sunshine and the cooler temperatures! I miss sunshine and shower days...

But contrary to some opinions it has not been a warm autumn. September was the coldest for quite a while and October was only a touch above thanks to the last 2 days. A very mild spell is part of an average Autumn. It has just turned out to be an exceptionally mild one.

Continuing very mild or warm overall. Brief cooler blip later this week then looks to go very mild again. Some rain and wind but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing to cause problems for the majority.

Yes temperature wise the autumn so far has been cooler than average - helped in large part of low minima during October and general cold conditions in September - however because of the prevailing dry sunny benign weather it has probably felt very pleasant, had we seen an unsettled cloudy wetter autumn with similar temps akin to 1993 then many would be commentating on how cool it has been in the main.

Even if we see a record breakingly warm November, the autumn as a whole temp wise will be nothing notable.

It would be good to see a storm this autumn even a gale, very unusual to get to this stage in the season without one. A key reason why we have so many leaves still left on the trees - one gale and woosh they will come down. They are currently blocking gullies and drains and leading to localised flooding here due to the heavy rain, normally by now they would have fallen, we saw similar conditions in 2009 mind..

You know, I'm hearing a lot of negativity about this warm spell, but I'm fascinated. I must have spent decades wondering if such a spell was theoretically possible at the start of November - I always thought it just about was but to actually see an extreme weather situation happen is great to live through. i mean, today i was walking around in clothes i would wear on a summers evening! Don't worry about the cold just yet people, we're not quite ready for that, last week of November is when that kicks off properly for me! Edited by Man With Beard

Yep, it's why leaf fall causes havoc with the trains!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
