Complete contrast to yesterday, barely a cloud in the sky! Not overly warm though, 19°c with a brisk westerly breeze.

Certainly a big contrast today, with sunny spells and the maximum just reaching 21 by late afternoon. 36.2mm was the final total at Reading University yesterday - I think it's the highest recorded round here in a day since a deluge in August 2010 that dropped 40mm+ on us.

Lousy. Moderate rain temp 12C and wind southerly 17mph

I have to say looking at this mornings GFS run I hope it's correct because after today it looks as if Andy could have a reasonable week if not terrible warm.

Thanks Knocker, I would prefer the reasonable over the warmth!

Shocking wet and windy morning in Polperro, wouldn't be out of place in midwinter!

This rain is over. This system went very quick yet brought 15.1mm of rain I really hope the rest of summer isn't going to be like this...

That went through rather more quickly than I had anticipated!  9.1mm and nothing heavy on the way from what I see on the radar.

Recorded 28.6mm rain here Friday.

21c and sunny yesterday.

6.3mm of rain and 17mph average wind speed so far today and noticed a few 30mph gusts earlier too.

See it has killed the Americas cup race day at Southsea.

Didn't it just! The only day I could get off to get down there and its cancelled. Ah well still next year!

Been horrid day here today, other than being on a South Coast that felt more like October than July today, was not a bad end with some sunshine. Highest Temp was at 5pm with 17.9c, most of the day has been nearer 13-14c with 13.4mm of rain

Certainly has been a cold Sunday (and moreso on Friday). The temperature did rise up to 17C quite quickly once the sun came out for some sunny intervals between about 6pm-7pm though. This seemed to be enough to set off some further showers. I suppose temperatures being 8-10 degrees below average in July is like the equivalent of an ice day in winter. My average max mid July to mid August is 22C, doesn't look like any day this week will reach that.

Locally it has been a pretty decent summer so far up until last Friday. Hardly any wet days really or even showers. Most days have been sunny intervals with temps between 20C - 24C. A few warmer days of 25C-28C and of course that exceptional spell in early July.

Come back summer all is forgiven :nonono: , a damp and dull start to the day although not too cold clouds are now breaking and its brightening up, although retaining a stiff breeze.

Crikey ,just had a strong gust thought it had died down ,broken cloud ,nice in the sun but annoying wind ,perhaps august will be warm and settled and the wind can take a well deserved break for a long while .

Been quite bright this afternoon but still cool and on the windy side. I have also come down with a cold which I'm blaming on this awful weather.

After a dry day just had a local but almost torrential downpour which seemed to come out of nowhere. It looks and feels more like an Autumn event than Summer.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
