Looks like parts are set for some intense rain if anything today. Almost like a bit of a squall forming on the front of those showers as they push NE. Crud has cleared here to leave quite a pleasant day so far.

Looks like the Eurocamp site I worked at, Guines, near Calais is getting pasted again. Was there in 95 and boy did we get hit with a couple of beauties. One roll of thunder shook a light off a tent pole!

Looking good so far pity we've got cloud as some warm sunshine may have helped to feed those showers later.

South Dartmoor has just lit up, might be in with a chance here!

EDIT: Still think it will go towards Exeter though, might get some rumbles though.

I'm watching that Plymouth cell closely, looks like the southern end might hit me.

Me too Will, you were correct about the other line of showers, fingers crossed

Been busy since Friday night but got some video on my phone of the storm over Bournemouth, although it really doesn't do it justice as it only picked up on the brighter flashes. There were also some low rumbles of thunder at times.

View My Video

When I realised it wasn't going to pass overhead I decided to take a drive up the A36 towards Salisbury to try and get ahead of it, and briefly got right under it with overhead lightning but also probably the most torrential rain I've witnessed in this country, possibly hail too but it was hard to tell. When I got to Salisbury the roads were like rivers and although I tried to chase the storm further north it just accelerated away from me as I got bogged down in the flooded A and B roads so had to call it quits. On my way back through Amesbury it looked like a few people were sweeping flood water out of a takeaway restaurant, and some of the roads were impassable. When I got home and checked Blitzortung I couldn't believe the widespread lightning coverage stretching almost across the country.

A night to remember for many, hopefully more to come this summer.

Grr can't seem to embed the video, nevermind.

I could be well placed for something thundery again late afternoon as that trough in the west swings NE. I am hoping it will intensify as it moves into the higher CAPE inland.

It's recently got dark here in Weston-super-Mare... light rain, then we've just had hail too. :)

Hmmm, according to the forecast it should be sunny here with potential showers this afternoon. However, it has clouded over and is now overcast with the cloud getting ever thicker. To the SE the rain that was supposed to be clearing the SE and heading into the N Sea appears to be swinging back inland across Lincs and we have an SE wind here. I see it is cold and rainy in Spalding and I think it will rain here too within the hour so a bit down in the dumps all told. Cold rain will spoil the day and do for any storms later I would have thought with no insolation.

Oh well, it has been a good week so I am not too despondent. Better mow the lawn now though before the rain comes......

Yes,annoying high cloud from the cold front outstaying its welcome, although there is a decent clear slot ahead of the trough which may help later on.

Only 4.6mm of rain today, thought it would've been way more than that!
