Was wondering what the weather conditions were like at lower levels in the North East and how I so wish I was back in the toon now after seeing the reports of snow coming in!

So I found out why. That little blue river line is me! And me is rain! So annoying lol. Enjoy the snow everyone. I have my self my very own little Cumbria a nice river of water coming down my street.

Shall I turn the heating off in my house? Might help lol.

Right, where the mongoose did this snow come from?

Given the zonal dross we've had recently I'd all but given up on anything but the cold rain that greeeted us this morning.

Surfaces are absolutely soaking, but the big wet flakes are sticking to them gradually. It's Washington - so it's going to need to stick around a while for even a covering on the ground but after the winter so far I'll take falling snow any day.

Just got to hope the cold air beds in until Christmas now :p

Feel sorry for these guys, although they are scampering around like little kids, especially the goat :yahoo:

Heavy snow in Newcastle for last 30 minutes, just beginning to settle.

Still pouring and starting to look like a winter wonderland out there now - what a bonus!

Still snowing - virtually everything covered now! Does anyone know how long this is meant to last - there's no clear sky in sight and these are heavy flakes so we could be looking at serious accumulations tonight even at lower levels.

This is the best kind of snow, totally unexpected and virtually unforecast.

This has been the cause of many problems in the MOD thread over the years.

Just because someone posts a chart at +360 hrs doesn't mean they are taking the chart as gospel, but someone always comes along a couple of posts later and suggests that they are,and they are generally the same folk who shoot other  peoples posts down with a couple of lines and no charts to back themselves up.

Still, its nearly Christmas, and maybe this rain can turn a bit sleety!

There is a god, was a bit miffed tbh and it was a team member and expect better. But the snow has squashed any worries.

So pleased the rest of the region are getting it.

It's my first year with solar panels and can here constant crashing as the snow builds up then slides off like bricks, might need a hard hat going out.

To be fair the roads have gone treacherous around here and still no warning from the metoffice....

The fact it's a very busy shopping day with inexperienced drivers doesn't help, although ain't seen any gritters up here where it was a good bet of being problematic, so the lower levels have less chance of seeing the salt

Problem is, as the low keeps on heading eastwards and as the NE is on the Northern flank of the low then with the winds coming in from the North Sea and air not all that cold then I would imagine the snow will turn back to rain unfortunately.

That said, the NE is experiencing a 2nd transient snow event and I'm still waiting too see a flake so enjoy it whilst it lasts!

We haven't seen 1 gritter over here to be fair. My street runs down  a bank and already cars are getting stuck on spinning wheels. If it goes on any longer it will be a nightmare. Either way though I love it it's like an early Xmas preset haha

Send some of this lovely white stuff further south. Not a single bit of snow here. Very fustrating seeing as though the rest of the regions have bucket loads.
