Been colder here since Thursday with snow falling every day since apart from today. Not been above 3 since last Wednesday. Was -3.8 overnight and currently 0.2.

The gfs 18z put a min of -15 here for next weekend so could be first temp below -9.9 since 2013.

Personally I expect the cold to intensify after next weekend under the high so maybe a -20 somewhere

it still exists??? yey :) just caught a glimpse of it here too... although its still foggy and cold.

No showers today that were forecast only 24 hours ago or so, shows how things can change in short period of time. that low to the east in north sea is expected to affect east coastal areas tomorrow though.

Cracking afternoon here after the fog cleared away, with frost still lingering in some shaded spots.

Very messy set-up over the next week or so,and difficult to pin down where and when any snow will fall.

Temp topped out at 0.5 here today so just missed out on ice day. Frost never lifted all day though. More of the same tomorrow please

Yes,looks like a widespread frost tonight with the NE being one of the coldest spots in the UK.

Looks like some heavy showers affecting the east of the region tomorrow afternoon as a trough comes in off the north sea.

Anything wintry probably restricted to high ground.

Best chance of snow looks to be wednesday night/thursday although much uncertainty.

I wouldn't be surprised if higher ground gets a decent cover tomorrow, which lasts at least a week.
We got below freezing here around 6pm but wind has picked up and it's +2C now.

Very much an east - west divide at present. Cumbria exposed to the wind and thus cloud continues to see miserable dark gloomy skies with snow restricted to higher ground only and no frost.. preety grim conditions. NE definitely the better place to be, more shelter hence clearer skies and colder temps, with frost and some sunshine.

Looking ahead the status quo will hold sway through much of the week, it won't be until Thursday before we see a cleaner clearer airstream for all, and thus frost this side of the Pennines, snow could fall to quite low levels as well. Would be nice to wake up on Saturday morning to a sunny clear frosty sky and snow on the ground, rather than grey wet leaden skies with the fells shrouded in cloud, such has been the case since late October barring the second last Sat in November.

Its time for a significant change - I am really fed up with the grey skies we have endured for weeks on end.

Best chance of seeing some snow this week is tomorrow night and Thursday morning by the weekend high pressure should be moving in keeping it cold but increasingly sunny which is something we haven't said much so far this winter

Agree, some nice frosty mornings. hopefully tomorrow night/thursday morning will deliver.

showers across the region for rest of today/evening... mostly of rain though.

Is there any chance of the cold getting deeper overnight before the showers pass through?

very unlikely, they will be wintry on the higher ground i would imagine and possibly in the heaviest of showers... bit sleet or hail if your lucky. should turn colder after they move through so icy in morning.

tomorrow night/thursday morning is our best chance depending on where the low tracks.

Looking very interesting for the early hours of thursday morning with the LP tracking right over us in cold air and plenty of precipitation about.

Couple of charts from the high res french model APERGE.

High ground could well get a dumping from that, but how far down will the snowline be?

Met Office mountain forecast for Lake District and N Pennines say freezing level down to 100-200 metres later tomorrow, ripe for snow down to very low levels..

Looks like the North West and Cumbria could do very well tomorrow night into Thursday morning.

It's going to be extremely marginal for those for on the eastern side of the penines though.
