Coldest station I can see is Low Mill at 3.1c Col. I'm sure there will be places colder that go unrecorded of course.

Hovering around 4C just now, some valley bottoms will have ground frost for sure.

Yes that station will be interesting through winter as it's far more of a sheltered frost hollow than here.
Being a bit further inland, the North Sea influence will be less and with cold air flowing down from the highest bit of moorland they could easily get several degrees lower than here.

They only started up in the summer I think.

Another glorious day on the cards today with sunshine from the off and no breeze again should be in the high teens this afternoon some parts may just squeeze into the low 20's

Hey folks. Moving to Newcastle today, so time to update my location and start posting here. Looking forward to a winter with much greater snow potential than I've been used to in southern Ireland!

He'll see a lot more falling snow especially if we get the intense North Sea showers/Lake Effect thing going on, but near the coast it seldom lies for long.
The main speciality in the NE is chilly mist, low cloud and drizzle while *everyone else* has sun!
Like today  ...

Indeed 2010 was a perfect example of our the UK's version of 'Lake effect' snow

Come winter we'll no doubt end up with endless day's of cloudy muck of the north sea

I always say 2009 was better than 2010 a lot more snow, With it looking like we are going to have a very weak la Nina or enso neutral winter i for one will be looking for a colder winter, the last 3 have been terrible from a coldies point of view, welcome BFTV

Another excellent day weatherwise over the Lake District. Preety much blue skies throughout and no wind, feeling very pleasant. A stunning sunset, the sky is a wonderland azure blue with a yellow peachy glow behind- the central fells etched perfect black against. Could be quite a chilly night if it stays clear.

September 2016 is turning into a wonderful month for sunny calm warm weather.

First day here and I've already got the broadband set up, good times! Weather was quite nice too, some sunshine and comfortably warm for me at least.

Cheers! Given how much further north it is I was expecting it to feel a little bit cooler. Other than that, there probably won't be a great deal of difference. Southern Ireland isn't nearly as warm as southern England.

Not a bad day today once cloud broke up with some warm sunny spells... clouding over now ahead of the band of rain to the west and showers breaking out ahead of it.

Durham got down to 7c overnight likely to be in the high teens across the region by this afternoon as long as we don't have any cloud build up
