Hoping for some clear skies thursday night into friday morning to catch the peak of the perseids meteor shower, expected to be a more active this year with as many as 200 per hour.

However the weather not playing ball with a rainy day expected and staying cloudy into the night... things may change though.

Looking increasingly likely that we will miss out on the heat next week... be lucky if we see 23.c

however still a vast improvement from this week and with the possibility of a thundery breakdown midweek, a more intresting next week ahead.

miserable this morning :(

I had warm wind on Friday morning too. I did have a very naughty curry on Thursday night though so understandable really.

I got my washing dry rather quickly in that warm breeze. It was ok weather for being out and about overall.

There was a coolish breeze by the coast up here today, but warmer inland in Newcastle.

It was nice to see clear blue skies though once the morning cloud had been eroded.

possibility yes, but for how long... as again by the following weekend the chances are it will breakdown and we back to square one. where have the the summers of weeks of nice sunny/warm weather gone that i enjoyed when i was a child???

The same can be said of the snowy winters I enjoyed as a kid.

Pretty foul today when that rain arrived.

Shockingly woeful summers day here so far, incessant rain throughout, gusting blustery winds - lots of leaves and twigs stripped off trees, and cool temperatures, currently just 14.1 degrees. It feels more like early October, its days like this which can break businesses around here who rely on making there most money on weekend days in the height of the summer season. Many local events called off. Easily the worst summer day we've had so far this year.

It seems bizarre how a similiarly wet blustery day in December can produce warmer temperatures than one on the 20 August as occured last year!

Day of two halves... very wet for some this morning (esp south of region) then dry with some warm sunshine for the afternoon with temps into the twenties.

humid feel to things over next few days.

Not the best of starts with some spots of rain around but don't worry it will improve significantly temps should easily peak in the mid 20's this afternoon

I'm off work this week and by and large I've been pretty pleased with the weather so far.

A couple of really warm lovely summers days just gone, and hopefully after tomorrow a lovely Friday.

chucking it down at the moment. Very mixed bank holiday weekend ahead... friday the best of the days.

all eyes looking over the pond to the USA for the developments of a hurricane which will influence our shores at some point.

This first band of rain should be clearing away from southern parts of the region very shortly

Once it does clear it's going to be a case of looking south for the next showers
