Morning,

Either everyone away on holiday or the weather been very boring up here past week or so :)

At last though some hot weather to enjoy from monday to wednesday and as mentioned above temps will be very close to 30c in some parts, however that could produce some big thunderstorms tuesday night and more so wednesday... so some interesting weather to look forward to.

Cooling off end of next week into weekend but hints of rising temps as we head into follwing week, more so to the east of our region.

Reminds me of last year when it got to 30c in durham and later that day and night we had some very intense storms with lots of lightning, very large hail and torential rain from multiple storms.

Yeah during the day in darlo we had some good storms but on the night the storms passed just too the west of us, 1 particular storm i started to see the lightning just north of leeds and watched it pass us on the way to you, good light show though

A top quality event that was with day and night time storms.:)

Unusual day, in that we recorded our highest maxima after 4pm. Conditions up until mid afternoon were overcast with temps held around 19-20 degrees, then the cloud broke and the temp shot up to around 23 degrees. This evening has felt very continental, skies have cleared, no wind and it feels very different - change of airmass. Forecast high 27 degrees tomorrow, think we might just make 28 degrees, which in an average year is normally our highest max, but it will feel like a major shock given we have languished below 21 degrees for about 5-6 weeks now. The synoptics bear an uncanny resemblance to June 30/July 1 2015, a 2 day heat blip followed by thunderstorms and back to atlantic fayre, that spell was an oddity in an otherwise very dissapointing summer temp wise.

The UK wide highest minimum record is 23.9c from Brighton in August 1990, Shoreham is currently still over 25c!
