A lot milder today actually feeling like spring for a few hours before turning colder later today with the snow risk increasing for high ground

New month and with it a change in weather today with rain clearing quickly to the south now, hopefully some bright spells appearing to east of high ground and milder than of late. It wont last though as a Very showery night ahead with these turning increasingly wintry, could be a wintry start to wednesday morning for some with snow (especially on higher ground) which has been the case all winter.

Plenty of chances for some spring snow, all depends on timing of low pressure over coming week... esp friday. problem is that we haven't had any prolonged cold in place at all and with conditions for snow marginal alot this winter just gone it has been dissapointing for many who love snow.

After this weekend we could see a return to milder weather or high pressure building in giving cold frosty nights but pleasent days with the sun becoming ever stronger now... as always it will prob change. Thats why we like the weather i suppose.

It only seems to have been about 2mm here so the relatively dry spell continues.
A striking change as we get to March is how things dry up so much more quickly than in the depths of winter.
The chilly, showery NW winds may not feel springlike but often have quite low humidity.
The sun is also starting to get real power again now,

An interesting few days coming up for sure.

Cold front is heading towards us from the west at the moment, and will introduce much colder air by the early hours of Wednesday morning, with the south of the region looking more favoured for any snow action.

We may get a quick second bite of the cherry if GFS has it right with a small LP crossing over us on Wednesday night.

After watching LN I wouldn't be getting my hopes up for snow overnight it looks like going north and south of us with some in the west too

Tomorrow sees another band of snow again going south of us

Quieter day Thursday

Then another band of rain sleet and snow Friday again this could also track just south of us

Well a wet morning here from showers overnight, not sure wether they were wintry or not... netweather radar showing these as snow across the region though. 40.thumb.png.8f36d92cc73bc84abe05468a343

Today should see wintry showers almost anywhere at some point, showers more of rain/sleet at coast. Some will see more than others as is the case with showers, but also some lengthly dry spells too, more so in the east later today. Going from metoffice text this morning for our region and other info some may get a covering overnight as bands of showers cross the region north to south and may be prolonged in places:

Tonight:

Further sleet and snow may bring patchy accumulations in places during the evening, with this tending to die away later to leave a slight frost and perhaps some icy patches. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

Friday that low pressure and associated front looking likely to be bang over the north east, however looking at this stage to be more rain/sleet than snow... although again metoffice text this morning says snow for friday:

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Unsettled and rather cold through this period, with a raw-feeling northeasterly wind. A period of snow is possible Friday, giving way to wintry showers for the remainder of the period.

So to sum up the next 5 days or so, nothing mild, plenty of oppertunities to see some wintry weather... lying snow however may be hard to come by for many of us away from hills though.

Well that was another let down. Add it to the list.

I cant see anything good coming of Friday but Rain Rain Rain.

The sooner we can close the lid on winter the better its just let down after let down

I agree on Friday the rain may even miss us altogether though we still have lots of uncertainties on this

small Low pressure system currently running down eastern side of us at present in north sea, this producing some heavy pulses of rain for some... colder air to the north of this feature so as it clears south during early part of tonight things will turn chilly with frost/ice being a problem in morning.

Messy picture friday morning still on timing and how far north that front will be, main band looks just to the south of us but fragmented bands over our region16030406_0212.thumb.gif.44595181adf51f90 56d7328c4ecef_16030406_0212(1).thumb.gif56d732c610fbc_16030406_0212(2).thumb.gif

The GFS did well picking up on this small LP,and maybe some wintriness as it clears away.

Looks like a couple of days of North sea showers coming up this weekend after Friday's mess has cleared away, with Saturday night into Sunday looking best for any snow chances.

Yeah noticed your post other day regarding this, just a shame conditions never seem to be right for proper snow... been a few poor winters in a row now.
