Some showers now approaching from the North sea could give a dusting for coastal areas in the next few hours.

Not as many showers as I thought there would be I have to admit, perhaps the ridge of high pressure toppled in quicker than first thought but either way, I would not rule out the NE out for snowfall tomorrow evening, it looks a bit of a long shot but this does to a small extent remind me of 12th Feb 2009 where a waving occlusion came and give a very surprising snowfall event when the previous day, the forecast was for patchy rain/drizzle to edge in from the West. A little different this set up but it really would not surprise me if the NE sees snowfall and I am once again let down!

Some rain, sleet and snow running down the western side of the country tonight some uncertainties on how far east it will get NMM says no for this region always worth keeping an eye on

nmm_uk1-1-21-0.png?16-05

Maybe a few rouge showers for the coast though

Another ice day here now with a max of -1.1 today and if the met local forecast is to be believed the next day it gets above -1 here will be Thursday. Will we hit minus double figures tonight?

Looks a lot further East on the radar than forecast. Could it reach us? I generally don't have much faith in the radar's predicted future track function.

Had light snow here on and off since around 4 with the heavier stuff looking on course. I'd say west of a68 100% it will snow, west of a1 to a68 70%, east of a1 30% but chances increase further south. Just my thinking!

Radar suggesting this band much further east than initially forecast - some very light disturbance making it over the Pennines, but waits to be seen whether we will see something meaningful out of this...

Think the ppn to the east of the pennines showing on radar is very high up in atmosphere and is acually fizzling out before it reaches ground as going off radar it should have been snowing where i just drove from but it's not and bone dry. I may be wrong though!

Yep - strangely enough it should be snowing or raining right over my house but it isn't.  Perhaps you are right.  It does seem to be spreading though on the radar so who knows , we should know in the next hour or so.

It's a home and dry app one iPhone. Not sure how reliable it is but it's currently predicting this.

Well I would be happy to see falling snow - the band is further east but would be surprised to see that coverage... it would mean the front would have to pep-up very soon! Well we can compare in an hour or so and see if it was right lol

As Nick says the hills are killing it so far..

Been on and off here since 4 in south west Northumberland near Cumbria/Durham/Northumberland border. Moderate snow now. Oddly met office forecast cloudy but no snow

Yes I would also love this to be correct but not liking the sound of the radar being wrong. How much or tease is that lol.
