No need to complain. This is a decent event - an inch or more of snow in many places and this driving snow now is awesome. Added to the very snowy weekend we had in December and the overnight snow-rain event in November, and we've done better than anywhere south of the border. Given how mild it has been, it's remarkable we've had so much snow!

Still decent snowfall in Washington, not a blizzard but it's been consistent since 7.30am. Low is slipping away so I imagine we'll see the snow stop by midday here.

Still snowing here but no where near as heavy as earlier. heaviest rain/sleet/snow running down east coastal counties as the low moves away so not expecting much more to make an impact IMBY

A quick look out of the office window would suggest a couple of cms. I think the wet ground has absorbed a lot of the depth from underneath.

Its the same here. Still snowing but the snow must be melting as the white has now gone black. Shame as i though we were getting somewhere and would have a layer to enjoy. Never mind there is always next winter lol.

People all over this forum seem to be hinting at a cold snap in February or early March - can someone explain the reasons behind this?

Every need to complain imby. A bloody dusting up here. Get the feeling the low didn't track the heavier stuff far enough inland.

bit out of me comfort zone this but i assume a SSW event late jan/early feb, more northen blocking patterns as the jet stream becomes weaker and displaced from its usual position.

Sure there is many other factors and more knowledgeable people in here may be able to explain in detail or find relevant threads in forum

yes initial excitement over and the realisation that for me it is going to be a poor event!. it is still snowing, but at this rate it would need to do so for the rest of the day to accumulate anything significant. looking at the radar i will be lucky to get another hour! looking forward to crisp cold high!

at least you had snow.  further south we had nothing but cold rain.  so much for this cold event.  I can see us having yet another snowless winter if we cant even manage to get snow in the middle of winter.  damn this countries weather.

we haven't even had a dusting or even falling snow so far this winter so count yourselves lucky.  we only had one day of snow last year too so if this year we get nothing then that means one day of snow for the past 3 years which is ridiculous even for the mild UK.  totally fed up with this countries weather.

Don't live in the south then. A dusting and 1 or 2C is not a cold snap, it's mongooseing January.

I can complain on an IMBY POV as all I had was rain the North West, a little bit of sleet will put me in the ecstatic stage but on the other hand, I knew I would see much less snow when moving here and the North East have only seen minor snow events so far this winter if albeit you got to say in terms of lowland England, its so far recieved the most snowfall.

Sounds like too me, temps were a little too high for settling snow(on lower ground) but low enough for falling snow, I would not complain too much really about that if I have to be fully honest because it came at the right time and just say the band only reached the NE now, it probably just be a miserable mix of rain/sleet with the daytime heating.
