Cold rain in Redcar. The wind is slowly picking up though so hopefully the colder air will soon kick in. Mind you, I'm only 10m ASL so it'll be touch and go for snow I think.

It's snowing now but seems to we wet snow and on wet ground can't see it sticking.

Although Andy has given me some optimism lol.

thick flakes and starting to settle on grass/roofs etc here now... so there is hope :)

Sleet here in Darlo even if this does turn to proper snow it will be very hard for it to lay given the ground is sodden wet

Shame, darlo seems to stuggle to get decent snow... any reason why?

One of the main players here is elevation in 2010 we did very well for snow but so did most parts of the region

Plenty more to come yet looking at the radar could be this afternoon before it clears south

If the skies clear overnight we'll have ice rinks in the morning

That sleet line looks a little on the pessimistic side as well!

Precipitation really looks to be intensifying as it approaches land when you watch the radar loop. A benefit of a warm North Sea I'd imagine.

yes initial excitement over and the realisation that for me it is going to be a poor event!. it is still snowing, but at this rate it would need to do so for the rest of the day to accumulate anything significant. looking at the radar i will be lucky to get another hour! looking forward to crisp cold high!

Lets all hope for a staller. Better than some of the super dupere we've had recently though - dusting of snow and it's bloody freezing.
